By now you may have heard their songs Colours or Tongue Tied. They’re on the up and up and looks like they’re gonna get pretty big. The first time I heard them they were opening for Foster the People at a small venue (pre-FtP hitting it super huge, yay), and perhaps the sound wasn’t that great there I wasn’t entirely impressed at all. I subsequently caught them at Popscene (where I got to hang a bit with the oh so silly but so friendly bassist) and at Outside Lands where they killed it at the Panhandle Solar Stage. Their music quickly grew on me over those few more times and there’s been a good bit of buzz about their debut album which is already garnering some good critique and reviews. Here’s a few other tracks of theirs…

Oooooooh! Been waiting for Blind Pilot’s second album We Are the Tide. NPR is streaming it now in its entirety, pre-release! I’m very, very fond of their debut album 3 Rounds and a Sound (2008) and am very excited about the new album. Looking forward to seeing them live for the very first time too! Perhaps I’ll update with thoughts on the new album once I have time to listen through completely. 😉

UPDATE: Only 3 songs in so far and am NOT disappointed. So effing beautiful, warm, and fuzzy. Sigh… Glad I already pre-ordered this album awhile back. Not sure there’s much departure so far from the debut album though.. a little additional complexity I think. But hard to tell so soon.
Was all excited that they posted details about the next album, but meh they really didn’t say that much. I am so looking forward to Florence + the Machine’s next album though, their debut Lungs was standout and Flo is amazing.
Anticipation is building for the new Florence & The Machine album and producer Paul Epworth recently revealed some insider information about the recording process.
Paul produced Flo’s multi-platinum selling debut album ‘Lungs’ and has been busy in the studio with Flo in recent months, working on the eagerly awaited sequel.
Taking to Twitter, he wrote: “Friday night and had a week of wonderful mixes coming in for Florence 2. I love handing something over to hear it come back better..
"I feel for the A&R dept having to try and whittle these tracks down to 10 or 12 because there really are no weak ones.
"It’s a weird record that sounds live in ways and like a machine in others, with sensitivity and power from both the music and Flo’s voice.”

The new Red Hot Chilli Peppers album I’m With You will be streaming on their website on August 22nd. It’s some sort of “global listening party”. The album drops on August 30th.
