I’m sure you all remember Natalia Kill’s wicked hit Zombie from 2011, right? I mean, it’s a sick tune, and there really aren’t many songs about loving a Zombie (whether you want to take it figuratively or literally). AGLORY, a Parisian production duo who’s fresh on our radar, affords us a re-visit of the song with their total rework of song. Tell me this these breakdowns, that dirty bass, and those booming beats aren’t ravishing. Turn it up with some good speakers or headphones and you’ll feel this buzzing, sawing, and whirring track move right through the whole of your being. Industrial meets tech house and gritty grime meets electro on this gripping adaptation. Check out more of these French visionaries’ music on Soundcloud, here.

Cruel Youth, the spellbinding new project created by Teddy Sinclair aka Natalia Kills alongside her husband, artist & producer Willy Moon, just unleashed a stupendous debut EP entitled +30mg earlier this month. Though I must confess to having fallen for each and every one of the duo’s songs this year, I still count Diamond Days and Mr. Watson my absolute favorites. Today, we get to revisit Diamond Days thanks to the arrival of a film noir styled, violet hued music video. I fall in love with Diamond Days’ retro crackling 60′s soulfulness and its Lana Del Rey and Amy Winehouse like brandy wined vocals all over again as I’m drawn into the video’s captivating visuals. Cruel Youth’s Diamond Days is like a memoir dedicated to the glamorous golden days of vintage Hollywood. I find myself overwhelmed by nostalgia. Listen to Cruel Youth’s 30mg debut EP in full on Soundcloud and purchase from iTunes.

Hatefuck seems a very angry title for a song, and I wouldn’t have been surprised to encounter irate scowling, aggro raging music upon hitting the play button. But I went into it knowing the song comes from Cruel Youth, the soulful pop project formed by Natalia Kills or Teddy Sinclair and her husband, artist/producer Willy Moon. This Hatefuck, despite biting lyrics much anguished and distressed, is a bittersweet melter. Cruel Youth once again evokes Lana Del Rey and Amy Winehouse with their brandy wined, husky deep vocals and their retro crackling 60′s pop charm. At times, I nearly forget I’m not listening to Hatefuck off of an old record player. Hatefuck will be on Cruel Youth’s debut EP, +30mg, out September 16th. The single can be purchased now from iTunes.

When I saw that a music video had been released for Cruel Youth’s Mr. Watson, I knew I had to jump on it, quick. I promptly shared the song over four months ago when it first surfaced too, and it’s still as bewitching as it was then, if not even more so. Mr. Watson is Cruel Youth’s debut single, but Cruel Youth is not new to the scene at all. The project was created by Natalia Kills aka Teddy Sinclair, and the trio dishes out some absolutely charming retro soul and vintage pop that evokes the likes of Amy Winehouse, The Ronettes, Cults, and Lana Del Rey. The carnival setting of Mr. Watson’s glamorous dream like video offers visual dazzlement and bold colors that go hand in hand with the gilded allure of Mr. Watson. The single can be purchased now from iTunes.

Natalia Kills’ latest project Cruel Youth debuted a few months ago to much praise when they revealed a bewitching retro soul pop single named Mr. Watson. The song now gets the BKAYE treatment on a majestic trap remix. The now Menlo Park, California (hello, neighbor!) based producer ramps up the energy on the track, giving it pounding beats, slicing chops, and a future grittiness that goes hand in hand with the brandy wine vocals of the original. The fiery sass level of this spellbinding remix is through the roof. BKAYE’s robust remix is a free download, here.
