OFFICIAL VID: Sigur Rós – Varúð

November 21, 2012

I have no idea why I got it in my head previously that there’d only be 12 films in Sigur Rós’ Valtari Mystery Film Experiment, but here we are on the fresh new 15th film. It’s another one for Valtari track Varúð. This one is drected by Björn Flóki. It’s beautifully filmed and fantastic. The visuals are stunningly clear, the colors immensely bright. It’s some powerful stuff.

OFFICIAL VID: Sigur Rós – Ekki Múkk, Valtari, Rembihnútur and Varúð

I could’ve sworn the Mystery Film Experiment series was over, but I guess I thought wrong. How many videos are out so far? Here’s a new one set to several tracks from Valtari, including Ekki Múkk, Valtari, Rembihnútur and Varúð. So, really, it’s a medley film and not really a music video per se. These Iceland fellas really think outside of the box, don’t they? This beauty uses the music to soundtrack an interpretive story of two dancers. It is directed by Christian Larson and choreographed by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. I very much enjoy this one as I love watching dance, particularly lyrical or interpretive modern dance. It only makes sense, right? I love music, the arts, and everything related. 😉

OFFICIAL VID: Sigur Rós – Dauðalogn

August 28, 2012

Dauðalogn is the latest track off Sigur Rós’ Valtari to get the Mystery Film Experiment video treatment. This one might be a little droll for some, but I find it very breathtaking and beautiful. The incredible footage of nature and night skies might seem screensaver like, but I don’t recall ever seeing one as stunning as this. Natural scenery goes well with the Icelandic post rock. The visuals look almost 3D with the clarity and slow motion panning within this. Oh boy, am I so ready to go out for some hiking or camping after watching this….

OFFICIAL (alternate) VID: Sigur Rós – Varúð

Yes, it’s another video for Sigur Rós’ Valtari track Varúð. And again, it’s from their Mystery Film Experiment series. It’s one of the quietly beautiful ones, less so quirky odd (other than the girl running down the street with shimmery hair part). The film director, Ryan McGinley, wrote: “This piece is my poem to New York City… I wanted to bring a childhood innocence to the streets, through a character whose own light and wonder effects the world around her. I’m always interested in an atmosphere where dreams and reality mingle on equal terms.” Lovely.
