It’s not everyday that we sound the horn upon encountering news of an exciting new festival, but we just can’t help ourselves when it comes to ID10T, a music festival and “comic conival” created and hosted by comedian, musician, actor, television host, and Nerdist founder Chris Hardwick. AND the festival is happening right here, in the Bay, at the Shoreline Amphitheatre just south of me this June.

ID10T features an incredible lineup of musical talent. It’s surprising how vast and expansive the lineup is, ranging from Weezer to Crystal Castles, Girl Talk to OK Go. A sure to be incendiary Mad Decent dance tent also features long time I Heart Moosiq supported production stars, like Jai Wolf, Gryffin, Madeon, and more.

Alongside all that fabulous music comes a whole lot of daytime comic book and art related activities featuring famed creators plus a full exhibitor village. As if that isn’t already plenty to take in, there’s also going to be a comedy tent.

You all know I’m a music fanatic, but I also spend my spare time watching The Walking Dead, marveling over art, enjoying Marvel films, and more. ID10T really can’t be more exciting, a perfect way to spend a summer weekend. It also kicks off at a more than affordable price compared to all the other events and festivals that cost an arm and a leg these days. Find out more about ID10T, here.

Follow Through

October 19, 2012

Interrupting the regular programming for a slightly more personal post. I started listening to Freelance Whales’ sophomore album Diluvia just yesterday, right before I caught them live at the Mezzanine in San Francisco. Though I’ve yet to listen through enough times to make final judgement, I know that my current favorite track off the album is Follow Through, and it’s a beaut. It was great hearing it live last night too. Freelance Whales is great, but they’re even better live in a small venue where you can really be immersed in their lush sound and see the members of the band swapping instruments throughout their set like a merry go round or musical chairs game. I’m guessing Follow Through will be a single, if not the next single, off Diluvia. In the meantime, I’ll share footage from ACL 2012 last weekend. I’m sure official share ready audio and video are down the road not too long from now. This is a stand out track off Diluvia for sure.

Pearl Jam + Jay-Z!

September 3, 2012

What’s better than 99 Problems by Jay-Z? 99 Problems by Jay-Z and Pearl Jam! At the Made in America festival, the legendary artists took the stage together to perform the famous song. Here’s a semi-decent video of the extravaganza… I’ve got 99 Problems, but this live collab sure as hell ain’t one.

Jack White Pop-up At Outside Lands

August 14, 2012

There’s no better place to do a pop-up than San Francisco’s Outside Lands. It fits the spirit of the fest oh so well. Jack White surprised everyone with an afternoon set by the food trucks in the woods this weekend. Turns out, even Tom Morello showed up and did a surprise set there in the woods (cue Bon Iver music). I, sadly, had no idea this was going on and was off running around between other sets and completely missed the magical moment. Don’t hate me, but I also sacrificed Jack White’s set later that day to catch Santigold and Bloc Party (I’m a huge Bloc Party fan and it was well worth it). But if I could clone myself and hit up everything I regretfully had to miss, I would’ve hit up Jack White’s pop-up and his official set at Lands’ End on the Polo Fields. So, don’t feel too jealous watching these next couple of amazing clips. I didn’t get to see it live, either. Mr. White chose to use his all female backing band for the woods surprise show, and switched to his all male backing band for the official set. Here’s his performances of Hotel Yorba and Love Interruption. I wonder if these folks felt like they were incredibly lucky to have been grabbing some food truck bites right around this time! Note to my future clone: camp out in the woods. STAY there. Wait for musical surprises.

Through The Bonnaroo Woods

August 8, 2012

Shot at Bonnaroo earlier this year, here’s a wonderfully filmed video for Radiohead’s song Daily Mail. The single was off of Radiohead’s Live From The Basement.  I hope someone does something like this for this weekend’s Outside Lands. That would be awesome. Seems it captures the fest experience extraordinarily well in a first person POV.

This. Is. Where. I’ll. Be.

April 17, 2012

This might already be old news for those of you who were as excited to find out about the Outside Lands 2012 lineup as I was. It was the first thing I checked on this morning. But it ain’t right to not share it on here anyway. Also, check out the tongue in cheek lineup video with MC Hammer. It’s Hammer time!

Sasquatch at the Gorge 2012

February 3, 2012

Memorial Day weekend 2012 lineup for Sasquatch! Music Festival was announced via this freaking awesome video. And WHAT A LINEUP! Who’s going to Sasquatch? I’ve never been, but I really hope to see The Gorge someday as it’s considered one of the most beautiful venues in America. I’ve always wondered if I’d be absolutely torn and confused between watching the view OR the stage. Maybe I’ll get whiplash turning my head back and forth. Man, what a LINEUP! Check it out! Is that Silversun Pickups I see? Does that mean… new music off upcoming album?!?!?! Holy freaking A… what a lineup. 😉 Hmmmm…

Sasquatch! Music Festival 2012 Lineup Announcement from Sasquatch Festival on Vimeo.

Here’s the official Sasquatch website, but it seems to be having issues and loading slow since everyone is flooding the site after the lineup announcement.

RETROSPECTIVE THOUGHT: I think Sasquatch’s lineup is FAR better than Coachella’s. Though Coachella is amazing too, it consists of some of the “staples” and no surprises… and not much introducing of bands that are up and coming, more focused on the already up and upped. Ya know what I mean? I’m much more blown away by this lineup than the Coachella one. I mean… LOOK at the list that scrolls by near the end of the video. LOOK AT IT.

Rock in Rio streaming live

September 25, 2011

rock in rio

Youtube has a streaming channel for Rock in Rio, which claims to be the world’s biggest festival. I don’t know about that… maybe one of the longest ones, but not the biggest… Pretty cool headliners though. Anyway, here’s the channel and as of now, Red Hot Chili Peppers is slated to stream next.

Austin City Limits streaming

September 16, 2011

ACL

The lineup is mad crazy for this year’s Austin City Limits, and they are streaming some of the sets live right now on youtube. Check it out here:

There’s two channels over the next 3 days. I’ll be checking out some of it, but more likely just checking out videos afterwards that I most likely will share and review here if good, as usual. Hey, look, Big Boi is on right now and he didn’t flake (reference to Outside Lands 2011 hehe).
