You’ll know immediately from the triumphant burst of synths on the opening bars of this song that this is going to be an epic journey. Sure enough, Mirror Talk’s Some Boys plays out to be a heroic and powerful synthpop ballad. It reminds me of some of the sweeping power ballads I grew up listening to in the 80′s, with its sugary gloss and illuminating glow. Some Boys carries some of the same theatrical grandiosity that I love about Twin Shadow, but spiked with sensual R&B and some very Sam Smith like falsetto build ups. The ballad is from the Los Angeles based quartet’s upcoming EP, 1997, out May 19th via Yellow Year Records.

Mirror Talk’s latest is a blissful trip back to the 80′s, and a visit into to its triumphant, epic dance parties. Satin smooth 1/M/T is an enrapturing retro synthpop jam from the Los Angeles based quartet. The heroic new wave song carries hints of R&B, plus some HAIM groove and loads of Jess Glynne fire. Mirror Talk will be playing the Troubadour in Los Angeles this Friday with Kitten. I’m pretty sure it would be an epic experience to witness and dance to 1/M/T in person.
