We float on easy breezy, twangy jangling indie pop as Miniature Tigers waxes nostalgic on Pictures Of You, the latest taste from the band’s forthcoming album I Dreamt I Was A Cowboy, due out October 28th. From all that we’ve heard from the album so far, Pictures Of You might fit the its title the most. While the Phoenix outfit coos dreamily and pines over pictures of a lost love, I find myself picturing cowboys hanging out at a beach, kicking at the sand with their boots while they stare lonely and wistfully over a surreal shimmering horizon. Revisit Miniature Tigers’ other singles from I Dreamt I Was A Cowboy on Soundcloud as we wait for the album.

It won’t be long before we get to listen to Miniature Tigers’ new album I Dreamt I Was A Cowboy, which drops on October 28th. As we wait, the indie pop band from Phoenix single handedly takes us into a quirky foaming, kaleidoscopic shimmering reverie as they serenade us with album cut Dreaming. This gauzy swirling, summer peppy tune is a nebulous trip deep into that surreal fantasy land hiding deep within our subconscious. Everything we desire might appear here. Despite all this, Dreaming is tinged with despair. As we’re spinning around with Miniature Tigers, we’re also pinching ourselves with the reminder that this is but a dream. Reality awaits us when we wake up from Dreaming. How sweet, yet how sad.

While I tend to lament the end of summer, its more a celebratory soiree that Miniature Tigers crafts for us on bright jangling Crying In The Sunshine despite its rather forlorn name. The Phoenix indie pop mainstays whets our appetite with this breezy treat from their forthcoming record “I Dreamt I Was A Cowboy”, due out next month. Let’s just say they leave me ravenous for more. Crying In The Sunshine features frontman Charlie Brand’s girlfriend and actress Mae Whitman (Parenthood, Arrested Development, Perks Of Being A Wallflower, and more). The bubbly hooking tune arrives as the band prepares to embark on a tour that begins right here in San Francisco at the Rickshaw Stop on October 6th. Charlie Brand is a very busy man these days. Aside from new Miniature Tigers, he’s also been busy alongside Chrome Spark’s Jeremy Malvin dishing out incredible music as Promises Ltd.

I was so taken by Promises Ltd.’s debut song Days Of Lavender a month ago that I giddily shared it with endless excitement on my own personal social media. Not only is it music to my ears that Chrome Sparks’ Jeremy Malvin and Miniature Tigers’ Charlie Brand have united to launch a new project, but they’ve proven themselves a dynamic duo with that florescent psychedelic single, which went on to hit the top 10 on Spotify’s Viral 50 Chart. The duo prove more than fruitful on their second song, American Eyes, a mellifluous lilting indietronica taste from their forthcoming self titled debut EP. Promises Ltd. goes fleecy dreamy on the airy, cottony delight as they blend chill disco with analog synthwave. Promises Ltd.’s debut EP will be out August 26th via Majestic Casual. Pre-order, here.

Brooklyn based indie pop outfit Miniature Tigers returned with their new album Cruel Runnings this week, and if you haven’t heard their jangly, buoyant, and charming lead single Swimming Pool Blues, it’s time to give it a go above. This, along with Mausi’s My Friend Has A Swimming Pool, are musts for your summer pool party playlist. Two more endearing tracks off the release that they’ve shared recently are the more groovy Used To Be The Shit and also the very synthy dance pop track Oblivious, which you can find below. I’m waiting for my copy of Cruel Runnings to arrive at my doorstep, and I’m so ready to blast it with the windows down.
