There’s no doubt that Milky Chance occupies their own sweet little niche in the sound spectrum when it comes to the German trio’s ever infectious and singular blend of reggae, folk rock, and electronica. Their 2017 sophomore album Blossom was a superb follow up to 2013′s Sadnecessary, arguably even better than that first LP. And now, the boys have released a music video for track number three, Firebird, in which they explore the female heroes of modern day Bolivia. It’s fantastic to see what everyone’s doing lately with their music and their videos. We live in a time when women are pressing for recognition and equality, and seeing our favorite artists embrace this movement is moving and much appreciated. And, of course, Firebird is yet another earthy stomping earworm of a gem from Milky Chance. Any reason to listen to it again is a great one. Catch the band on their expansive international tour. Tickets and info can be found, here.

I’m still rather crestfallen I totally missed the announcement for Milky Chance’s show at the Independent in San Francisco earlier this year, which sold out long before I caught wind of the news. But at least I got to see them perform a glorious set from up close at Live 105′s BFD over the summer. The German outfit released a terrific sophomore album in Blossom this year, and now we get to watch a new music video for their song Bad Things, featuring British artist Izzy Bizu. Watch them pace city streets as you jam out to the band’s signature fusion of reggae plus folk inflected alt rock and dance ready groove. Izzy Bizu’s soulful, honeyed vocals add plenteous extra charm to the song. Blossom is available, here.

All hail Milky Chance and their amazing ability to move both heart and body with the German duo’s signature fusion of alt dance with folksy rock . New song Blossom inundates us with plenty more of their dusty chugging magnetism, and it’s the fine title track off the pair’s highly anticipated sophomore album, too. The bittersweet anthem showcases a new level of hearty richness to Milky Chance’s sound. Pre-order Milky Chance’s new album before it drops on March 17th, here.

Guess who’s back, back again, with yet another superb taste from a forthcoming album? German duo Milky Chance! The pair stokes the flames of everyone’s excitement for their long awaited sophomore album with Ego. If there’s anyone who should have an ego after spectacular debut LP Sadnecessary and the first songs we’ve heard from Blossom, it’s these guys. Yet, they’re as down to earth and dusty charming as ever on the easy stomping, effortless leaping charmer, a fine display of their signature dance meets folk brand of sound. Clemens, one half of Milky Chance, explains that Ego is about a distance that is impossible to overcome. Blossom arrives on March 17th. Pre-order, here. This Milky Chance fan is rather gutted that I completely missed the announcement of their tour stop at the Independent in San Francisco on Friday March 10th. It sold out in a jiffy.

Heads up, Milky Chance is back with a jolly new tune, and by jolly, I mean downright snazzy buoyant, crunchy bouncing mixture of their signature indie dance meets reggae inflected folk sound. Funky guitars strut throughout Doing Good, a new single from the German duo’s newly announced sophomore album Blossom, a sure to be ace follow up to unforgettable debut album Sadnecessary. The pair is more than just “doing good”. Turns out, they announced a tour yesterday, and before I even got a whiff of the news, they’d already sold out their stop in San Francisco at the Independent, a nice intimate chance to experience their music live yet again. Blossom drops on March 17th via Ignition Records. Watch the video for Doing Good below.

Milky Chance took the world by storm in 2013 with their fresh and unique fusion of chirpy folk and gritty dance pop. The German duo made such an impression on us all that similar types of sounds started gushing out from all over the world, resulting in a flux of hybrid dance, pop, and folk chimeras. The original purveyors themselves have been very quiet for an extended period of time after touring extensively for debut album Sadnecessary. When new Milky Chance landed on my ears last week, it was such huge news that I had a very hard time keeping it to myself. But finally, today, I can share Cocoon and its video. Prepare yourself for finger snapping, foot tapping euphoria as the fellows get right back on top of wooing our hearts with their chill breezy, gravelly endearing music. Cocoon is out now on all major outlets, here.

It’s been a few months since I first heard of an acoustic folk meets buoyant soul act named Lions Head, and their latest song only has me reeling at their feet even more. The duo is made up of members from both America and Germany, and they’re reportedly a part of the Milky Chance family. This comes as no surprise, considering the style of Lions Head’s music. Firecracker, despite its name, showcases a Milky Chance like laid back, dusty charm, with its gentle guitar strums, a supple cadence, and soulfully soft vocals. What sets Lions Head apart is a more silken sway, a more tender and less coarse panache. Firecracker is an earworm, and a beautifully soothing and summery one at that. Despite its languid, unhurried delivery, there’s a tasteful bite to the tune, particularly through its lyrics, giving Firecracker plenty of spark. In case you missed this rising duo’s debut song Begging, I beseech you to listen to the gem below. Keep a close watch on Lions Head. With Firecracker, they’ve proven they’re surely here to stay and light up the music scene. While it’s my absolute pleasure to premiere Lions Head for the second time on IHM, DJ Liz from KUCI 88.9FM down in Southern California will be debuting it on air soon, around 2:30 PDT today (June 17th).
