Nashville based folk pop band of sister SHEL offer up one incredibly haunting cover of Metallica’s Enter Sandman, giving the song a massive makeover with their delicate and softly stringy rendition. The four piece has also released an exquisite music video for their cover, one whose glacial panorama befits the song’s icy darkness. The Enter Sandman cover easily reminds me of Meg Myers’ intense music, but more orchestral and hamonically frosty. SHEL’s cover will feature on the band’s upcoming release Just Crazy Enough, their second full lengh record, out May 13th. Pre-order the new album from SHEL’s Pledgemusic campaign, here.

This might already be old news for those of you who were as excited to find out about the Outside Lands 2012 lineup as I was. It was the first thing I checked on this morning. But it ain’t right to not share it on here anyway. Also, check out the tongue in cheek lineup video with MC Hammer. It’s Hammer time!

I haven’t really been posting about the whole Lulu Metallica Lou Reed whatever-they’re-calling-it-now fiasco that has been going on. But here’s something really worth posting from Metallica, the one and ONLY Metallica. Hate Train has already garnered a ton of attention since they released it online yesterday. The song was recorded during the sessions for Metallica’s last album Death Magnetic, but wasn’t on the album. THIS is good heavy metal rock. No doubt. THIS is what Metallica is about. Though I’m not a die hard Metallica fan, their music is so satisfying to rage to once in awhile. 😉 Loooooooooove the guitar. Love. Loooove. Killed it on the solo. The recording is from their 30th anniversary show in San Francisco.
