Melanie Martinez’s darkly sugary Pity Party is quickly becoming one of the most remixed tracks of the moment. The latest twist on the bewitching pop song comes by way of East Coast producer Myles Travitz, who offers up his very first official label release with the official edit, out on Atlantic Records. He gives the track a gritty electro and future trap makeover that explodes with energetic fury. I’m looking forward to catching Melanie Martinez live at a sold out show in San Francisco this fall. It would be ace if someone dropped this remix after her set, so we could all go wild dancing away at our very own magnificent pity party. Snag Myles Travitz’s slamming remix on iTunes.

Melanie Martinez’s dark electronic pop is an entrapping blend of the twisted macabre and the sugary sweet, a concoction that targets my very heart. There’s hardly a Melanie song I haven’t been able to resist so far, including Pity Party, which even samples Leslie Gore classic It’s My Party. Canada’s XVII takes that shadowy glamour and transforms the electronic pop song into a whopping future bass and trap track brimming with grandeur and majestic stateliness. It’s intensely theatrical, a remix worthy of a contemporary trap version of Phantom Of The Opera, fitting of mysterious masks, lavish costumes, and mystical sets.

Apparently, Melanie Martinez dropped a new tune earlier this month, and my sorry ears managed to miss out on it till now. Apologies, not necessarily to you, but to myself, because I’ve delayed myself the pleasure of this gorgeous electronic pop song. The Los Angeles based dark pop songstress first wooed me over with her eerie gem Dollhouse last year, which also lead to one of my favorite remixes of 2014, by Jai Wolf. Melanie brings plenty of that dark sultriness to her latest. Soap, like Dollhouse, is a playful take on something mundane. Underneath the onion like layers of Soap are deep, fine nuances and analogies. It’s a symbolic approach on lyrics and sound that much reminds me of some of Marina And The Diamonds’ artistry. Adding more whimsical charm to the song are bubbly, lathery sound effects that launch as giddy trap beats. Watch the video for Soap below, which continues the twisted visuals and haunting imagery that Melanie Martinez likes to utilize. I’m all for it. Soap is available on iTunes.

Yes, yes, I know, it’s yet ANOTHER remix of Melanie Martinez’s American Horror Story soundtracking dark electropop song Carousel (off her The Dollhouse EP). Sure, I’ve shared quite a handful of them, but each one has been its own track with its own characteristics. Each producer has done a spectacular job creating a new atmosphere out of the bewitching music of the original. Today, I give you a chill remix by Los Angeles producer Eric Sharp. Gone is the slight creepiness of the original. In it’s place is a lush, pillowy atmosphere. It’s not a gleeful, upbeat, energetic dance edit, either. Instead, the melancholy of the song seems to be drawn out more.

Yes, indeed, it’s another remix of Melanie Martinez’s darkly whimsical Carousel, the song utilized as the theme for American Horror Story: Freak Show. I really love the tune a lot, and the remixes I’ve shared so far, crafted by Jai Wolf and SNBRN, have been wonderful and very different. New York’s Bobby Green offers us this new one, which strips Carousel of all its sinister wickedness. Instead, we’re given a wonderfully buoyant and bright rendition that’s delightfully light hearted. I want to ride this carousel.

I’m a fan of American Horror Story. Yet, I haven’t even started watching the new season yet, despite it being on for some time now. I’m waiting for my lagger friend, since it’s a tradition that we watch it together. For those that have been watching it on a weekly basis, you’ve probably listened to Melanie Martinez’s Carousel countless more times than I have, since it’s the theme song this season. I, however, have listened to the briliant Jai Wolf remix countless times. And now, I add this one to my Carousel rotation (pun intended), a  sublime deep house remix by Los Angeles based producer SNBRN. Carousel loses a little of its eerie edginess on the more entrancing and mellifluous approach.

Earlier this year, I stumbled upon dark, twisted music by one Melanie Martinez, who was a stranger to me before, since I don’t watch The Voice. Her song Dollhouse, its wacky lyrics, her macabre video for the song, and of course, Jai Wolf’s stunning chill trap remix of the song, all served to lure me in with much success. As someone who loves horror films, Melanie’s music is exactly what find irresistible. Off of her debut dollhouse EP, which came out back in May, comes Carousel, another madly eerie and creepy crawly electropop song, skillfully co-written and co-produced by Kinetics and One Love. Watch her brand new video for the treat above… a perfect song and video for October, with Halloween just a few short weeks away.

I’m super happy this song is now public on SoundCloud, so I can share it with you. I’ve been checking the privacy settings, countless times, since I first heard it yesterday. Jai Wolf, the New York based electronic producer who gave us that stunning trap remix of Foster The People’s Best Friend earlier this week, returns with this enthralling take on new artist Melanie Martinez’ super dark pop tune Dollhouse, a bewitching song that already appealed to me in its original form, since I love dark music. Turns out, Melanie Martinez was a contestant from New York on the television show The Voice (I’m sure many of you know this already). Her recent EP is chock full of dark pop music like Dollhouse. Jai Wolf’s remix is a sweet spin that really takes advantage of that sinister darkness.
