I was traipsing through Soundcloud nonchalantly like I always do in the mornings while fast at work, when I encountered this sick track that I knew I had to hop on to share immediately. The lightning bolt jolt that it’s brought me is way better than any rush the coffee I’m having right now could ever give. All hail Pon De Time, Wuki’s absolutely genius mashup of Daft Punk’s timeless hit One More Time and Major Lazer’s 2009 dance classic Pon De Floor. French electro, steely future house, and dancehall meld together exceptionally in Wuki’s hands to become the most exhilarating mashup I’ve come across in ages. Pon De Floor is a free download, here.

Las Vegas alt rock band Imagine Dragons and Texas R&B sensation Khalid have been having an immense year. Imagine Dragons released their third studio album Evolve to great success and acclaim, Khalid released his debut album American Teen, and they’re both up for some well deserved Grammys. If you happened to tune into the American Music Awards this year, you likely caught the two acts performing together on stage. The medley they dropped on us live is now an official single, and we can now enjoy a studio recording of Imagine Dragons and Khalid’s Thunder / Young Dumb & Broke, an immaculate conjoining of the two hit songs. The punchy mashup is a great way to cap off 2017 for the two projects as we look ahead to Grammy night in early 2018. The single is available, here.

It’s been awhile since I’ve listened to Kanye West’s Power, that iconic song off his 2010 album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Australia’s Joe Mason brings it back with a fresh new edit that melds his remix of Stalgia’s BDY together with the Kanye original. The end chimera is a unique and charged experience, a rhythmic driving, expansive and cinematic future bass anthem interwoven with orchestral grandeur and an abundance of Ye intensity. Download this Joe Mason Edit, here.

Chicago mashup virtuoso and remix extraordinaire Trademark blasted onto our radar last year with his remix of LANY’s Where The Hell Are My Friends. I ended up glued to his Soundcloud for an extended amount of time afterwards, due to the heaps of incredible mashups he’s stored there. Trademark’s latest such track is a crushing intermingling of Zedd & Alessia Cara’s Stay and Bassjackers & Brooks’ Joyride. Reasons Why is a progressive house and electro house bonanza. Download the track for free, here, and get ready to jump higher than you’ve ever jumped in your life.

Enigmatic teenaged producer calfana dreams gave us some mind melting, heady surreal magnificence by way of his remix of Lana Del Rey’s Summertime Sadness and London Grammar’s Hey Now earlier this year. Now he’s done something wonderfully unexpected, and it’s even more brilliant than anything he’s given us before. calfana dreams whips together Amerie’s That’s What U R and Neon Indian’s Polish Girl on sxual, a dreamy sensual, murky intoxicating future beats and ambient electronica affair. It takes a certain sort of genius to even think of doing something like this, much less execute it so flawlessly, with a distinct style. calfana dreams’ sxual is a free download, here. It’s not everyday that we encounter a dashing banger that unites Alessia Cara, Zedd, and Throttle, but here we are, bouncing off the walls to this seamless mashup from an East Coast producer who goes by the name of AWOLF. Don’t Try smooshes together Zedd and Alessia’s dance pop infectiousness with Throttle’s driving buoyancy. The high energy burst of joyous exhilaration is a free download, here. As it turns out, AWOLF offers up an abundance of dance mashups on his Soundcloud to keep the party going.

I know we’ve had an inordinate amount of remixes when it comes to Ed Sheeran’s Shape Of You lately, but this one is completely fresh and unique. In fact, this pair of singer songwriters and producers have cleverly compounded Shape Of You with Chet Faker’s No Diggity. Lu Crative and Sowlmate present us with a flawless cover mashup on which it’s nearly impossible to discern where Ed Sheeran ends and when Chet Faker begins. This island breezy chill house emulsion is as dashing as can be. And it’s a free download, here.

I’m still kicking myself for having had to miss Porter Robinson and Madeon’s now legendary tour together, since I was out traveling when they played their sold out shows in San Francisco. From all accounts, it was magnificent. The show seems to top many fellow music heads’ best of the year lists. Though I missed the Shelter Live Tour, reddit using fans of the production heavy weights have recreated some of the magic through a sensational mashup of Porter and Mat Zo’s Easy and Madeon’s Pay No Mind, featuring Passion Pit. TheDialol and Kyllian1212 offer up seamlessly fused Pay No Mind x Easy and deluge us with a tidal wave of luscious disco, ebullient electro, and vivacious progressive. I’m left wondering if Porter and Madeon will ever tour together again. If not, maybe we can have our own intimate dance parties. After all, we have this mashup to play on loop all night. I wouldn’t complain.

For our final course of the evening, we leave room for the best kind of dessert, a well put together mashup by LA’s gifted production talent, Kap Slap. Heathen Thieves Love Lamborghini’s is three minutes fifty two seconds of creative brilliance. Kap Slap seamlessly blends some of the year’s biggest hits from artists like Twenty One Pilots, Martin Garrix, Rick Ross, Bebe Rexha, Grandtheft, Skrillex, Troyboi, Ookay, JayKode, and Party Thieves for a dirty trap-tacular end of year soiree. Bump this one loud as we count down the final days of 2016. The whomping mashup can be downloaded, here.
