It’s been awhile since I’ve listened to Kanye West’s Power, that iconic song off his 2010 album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Australia’s Joe Mason brings it back with a fresh new edit that melds his remix of Stalgia’s BDY together with the Kanye original. The end chimera is a unique and charged experience, a rhythmic driving, expansive and cinematic future bass anthem interwoven with orchestral grandeur and an abundance of Ye intensity. Kap Slap may be busy on tour through the end of May (tour info, here), but the producer from Southern California has taken the time to craft a mighty fine, very sophisticated mashup. Taylor Needs Calvin’s Rozes & Love is what you might call tongue in cheek, considering its playful reference to Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris’ romance. All jesting aside, Kap Slap has put together one blissed out future beats cocktail made up of Calvin Harris’ I Need Your Love, Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud, Manila Killa’s All That’s Left, The Chainsmokers’  Roses, and Taylor Swift’s Wildest Dreams, among possibly more snippets of top hits. Many of happen to be on my favorites list, so I’m quite happy with hearing them all mashed together into one ebulliently springy treat.  Download Taylor Needs Calvin’s Rozes & Love for free, here.

Some of my favorite producers have been unleashing electronic feats of grandeur, making me a very content dance music fan. Los Angeles’ Elephante has made a rambunctious live edit available for our streaming pleasure on Soundcloud, and it’s pure ecstasy. Tim mashed up his lit original Temporary Love with Empire Of The Sun classic Walking On A Dream, and it nearly convinces me I’m out at a club raging away right now. If I just close my eyes, my living room disappears. I swear a fog machine is going, a glistening dance floor (perhaps a little sticky from spilled drinks) is under my feet, and faceless blurs of sweaty bodies are jumping in unison with me, arms raised to the sky, feasting on the tense progressive energy and electro vibrancy of Elephante’s masterpiece thriller.
