What’s probably Flume’s biggest mainstream hit of his career, his Kai featuring future bass and chill trap masterpiece Never Be Like You, has now been given a jaw dropping re-work by Martin Solveig. This unexpected but oh so satisfying remix by the Frenchman takes the track in a euphoric house direction. Big hearty beats and ardent blaring synths lift us towards the heavens. It’s a high you won’t want to come down from.

Martin Solveig’s +1 is, unsurprisingly, a beast of an infectious banger. Los Angeles producer Jayceeoh corrals that Sam White featuring beast and sets it free bedecked in a glorious new outfit made up of fresh future bass threads and sewn with high energy care. I’ll be anybody’s +1 if I get to hit up the party where they drop this one, loud. The invigorating, thrilling remix is out as part of a remix package on Big Beat Records.

It’s hard to believe it’s been nearly a year since Martin Solveig and GTA’s massive hit Intoxicated first surfaced. Eleven months later, and it’s still one of the most behemoth electronic jams around. The moment I even hear it mentioned, Intoxicated’s unmistakable melody and bouncing, flaring synths enter the invisible ears of my mind in full force. For a thrilling and gripping revisit of Intoxicated, we turn to LA’s Salva, who regales us with a spectacularly rousing and intense trap and Jersey club interpretation, one that has me itching to follow it up with some Brenmar to continue the good vibes. The exhilarating rendition is a free download direct from Soundcloud.

We’re certainly getting some much needed rain here in San Francisco, but I’m much a creature of warm weather. I could use a virtual trip to the tropics, and a mysterious new producer named Scriptyou gives me exactly what I want. Scriptyou’s remix of Martin Solveig & The Cataracs’ Hey Now, featuring Kyle, is an uplifting and sleek trip to paradise. The night suddenly seems far warmer and more radiant. Life itself seems more bright and cheerful. Download Scriptyou’s remix for free from Soundcloud. Here’s to hoping some tropical house gets dropped every so often when I’m freezing in Lake Tahoe for SnowGlobe soon.

If you haven’t heard the slamming new Martin Solveig yet, now’s your time to catch up. The French producer’s Intoxicated, a collaboration with Miami duo GTA, is an undeniably infectious dance anthem. It carries a hint of pumping future house mixed in with Solveig’s usual vibrant club style. The bumping tune is available now on Beatport. Intoxicated marks the end of a sort of a hiatus for Martin Solveig. He’ll be playing Coachella in April and has much in store for the rest of the year.

Berkeley indie hip hop/pop crew The Cataracs teamed up with none other than French electro house producer Martin Solveig on this fun new song titled Hey Now, which also features Kyle. It’s bright, upbeat, and super catchy, as expected from such a combo. The signature Solveig sound is a  pick me up for sure on a Monday.

Martin Solveig’s mini mix for BBC Radio 1 Annie Mac

June 7, 2012

Here’s a great five minute mini mix Martin Solveig threw together for BBC Radio 1 a short while ago. It’s a banging mix that’ll get you moving and hyped up fa sho. Mr. Solveig’s mix includes the following great artists in order of appearance, all mashed into a wee little few minutes: Franz Ferdinand, Erol Alkan, Gwen Stefani, Martin Solveig, A-Trak, Duck Sauce, Dada Life, Daft Punk, Dragonette, Idoling!!!, TV Noise, The Beatles, Britney Spears, Bingo Players, Skrillex, Wolfgang Gartner, DJ Mehdi, Thomas Bangalter, Knife Party, Madonna, Woodkid, M.I.A., Labrinth, Madeon.  Epic, no? And guess who caught a FEW of those artists at BFD in the Subsonic Tent just a few days ago? *ahem ahem* That’s right, Dragonette and Knife Party KEEEEELED it. The man just finished DJing the MTV Movie Awards, which I caught belated on my DVR the other night. Of course, the people dancing along behind him on the broadcast had headbands on, true to the spirit. Big thanks to DJ Blondie K of FringeSF for sharing the mini mix on a music sharing Facebook group we’re on earlier today, otherwise I might not have noticed this at all. Is it Friday yet? What? No? That’s OK, I have shows every night AGAIN till the weekend so it’s all good. 😉

OFFICIAL VID: Dragonette – Let It Go

May 2, 2012

If Aeroplane’s April Mix was still a little too low beat with its smooth disco pop-ness to really get you going, this will do it. Dragonette’s Let It Go has an official video out today, and if this doesn’t get your blood circulating and give you an itch to party and dance your feet off, I don’t know what will. Actually, I do. A hard remix of Let It Go with some mad bass drops. That’ll do it, for sure. If you’re not too familiar with Canadian synthpop band Dragonette, Martin Solveig’s Hello should be a helpful reminder. Dragonette has also collaborated with Kaskade and many others on countless great dance tracks. They’re going to be mad fun to catch live at BFD 2012 this summer!
