The virtues of being a VIRTU fan are endless. That much has been more than apparent after his stunning performances on both remixes and originals. And now, the Los Angeles based electronic artist has taken on Imad Royal and Mark Johns’ sensational rendition of Nirvana’s Heart-Shaped Box for his latest track. VIRTU’s remix starts out slow and deliberate, building ever so intensely towards its mind melting drop. Dubstep and electro house interweave on the glorious edit. Shuddering bass and laser-cut synths leave us trembling in bliss. Why can’t there be more rock and electronica crossovers like this magnificent electro grunge track? Download/stream the track, here.

It’s hard to believe that Christmas is only five days away. Thank goodness I’ve finished all my Christmas shopping, though I’ve yet to wrap all the presents I bought. Let’s ring in some Christmas cheer and merry mirth with a seasonal present from trendsetting collective and esteemed record label Moving Castle. Though Joy is a collaboration involving versatile artist Mark Johns and charismatic electro/hip hop talent BLAISE, the dreamy melodious, jazzy snug song was produced by AObeats and Roget Chahayed. It also features additional vocals by SATICA, Madi, SAKIMA, and Robokid, with artwork by Robokid. Joy is a super stacked Moving Castle all-star affair, a mahogany flavored infusion of chill hip hop, pellucid R&B soul, and twinkling future beats. The song goes hand in hand with everything we love about Christmas, be it a warm fire, a glass of creamy eggnog, or plenty of cuddling with your boo. Naughty or nice, we all get to treasure this Joy. For those of you who are lucky enough to be in Southern California on January 27th, you can catch an incredible roster of Moving Castle talent live at Moving Castle World, tickets and more info can be found, here.

It’s been far too long since we’ve had a fresh original from Skrillex co-signed singer songwriting talent Mark Johns, who last gave us her Molino EP a good while back. News of a new single certainly had me perking up in jubilation. Mark Johns bathes us with a bewitching effusion of frothy effervescent, sweetly biting future R&B on Same Girl, a must for any fan of Felix Snow’s work with Kiiara and Terror Jr. But Same Girl is more moody lascivious and slinky salacious. It’s edgy and spunky, and yet another fine display of Mark Johns’ versatility and creativity. Same Girl is but the first of more new tunes to come later this year. It’s going to be a fabulous second half of the year. Same Girl is available from iTunes, here.

6LACK’s PRBLMS is on fire. It’s one of the most hotly buzzing hip hop tracks of the moment. A new rendition of that trappy jam has also ignited since it dropped on Friday. This new PRBLMS comes by way of ever talented and multifaceted artist Mark Johns, who partners up with Los Angeles based producer Judge to deliver a smoky seductive, torrid burning conflagration of sultry R&B, electro, and hip hop. You can grab the brilliant edit for free, here.

If you haven’t listened to Mark Johns’ debut EP Molino since it dropped last Friday despite our constant praise for the singer songwriter’s music, you’re going to want to after indulging in Love Letter, the fourth track from the six song EP. Honeyed, smoky charm radiates boundlessly from the plush simmering, fuzzy warm future R&B & soul ballad. I’m caught in that moment at dusk as the last hint of daylight slips away into the dark of the night. The world seems strangely quiet and the heart’s desires flare intensely as we wonder if we’ll be spending our evening alone. Mark Johns’ Molino EP can be streamed in full on Soundcloud and purchased on iTunes.

Mark Johns continues to spread her prismatic plumed wings and soar as she unveils more music off of her forthcoming Molino EP. The blooming chanteuse has proven herself an exceptionally versatile and creative talent, having both thrilled us with dance tracks and melted us with R&B/pop ballads. On Wait Till Tmrw, Mark Johns soothes us with one of her most halcyon pop confections to date. Wait Till Tmrw is a smooth glider, a dreamy drifter. Its misty sweeping pop lifts spirits and emits warm rays of golden hope. Nothing can seem as bad whilst listening to Mark Johns’ soft, tender ballad, which will be out along with the rest of her debut Molino EP on November 4th. OWSLA is offering up free downloads, here.

Mark Johns fans, Skrillex himself included, must be in such great spirits this week. It’s not everyday we get to listen to new music from the versatile rising starlet, much less two beautiful ballads. Mark Johns’ two new gems come as our first taste of her Molino EP, which will be out later this month on OWSLA. The title track burns slowly, cutting through the heart like a knife through butter with its melancholic shimmering R&B pop. Also unveiled is effervescent percolating Before You, a thoroughly enchanting future R&B/pop song you can stream below. Mark Johns’ Molino EP can be pre-ordered from iTunes ahead of its October 28th release date.
