If you’re up for some chills and some goosebumps (in a pleasant way, of course), I highly recommend you dive into this new Manchester Orchestra track, stat! The band from Georgia gave me one of my favorite alt rock albums of 2017 in A Black Mile to the Surface, and now they’ve presented us with an exquisite The Avett Brothers cover, too. Melt into tenderly heart tugging No Hard Feelings, of which Manchester Orchestra’s Andy Hull explains:
“Rob and I became obsessed with this song last year. It is truly one of the best songs that I’ve ever heard and it got to a point where I was listening to it repeatedly for several months straight. Simultaneously analyzing these layered lyrics while being emotionally floored at its weight and conclusion. I think the only way we could exercise the song’s grasp on us was to attempt a cover. We hope you enjoy.”

Manchester Orchestra – Andy Hull, Robert McDowell, Tim Very, and Andy Prince – will hit the festival circuit this summer, beginning with the Shaky Knees Music Festival on May 5th. The band is also confirmed to perform at Hangout Music Festival, Boston Calling Music Festival, Bottlerock, Bunbury Festival, Governor’s Ball Music Festival, Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, Lollapalooza, and more. You can find their new cover on iTunes, here.

My heart skipped a beat when I came across this remix that unites two of our faves into one gorgeously captivating song. Atlanta based indie rock/alt rock veterans Manchester Orchestra put out one of our favorite albums last year in the form of A Black Mile to the Surface, and one of the best songs off the record is undoubtedly The Gold. Syracuse baroque pop and indie rock darlings Ra Ra Riot have given the song a beautiful and understated remix treatment, with softly churning electronic elements awash in dreamy ambling introspection. Accompanying the remix is another official remix of The Gold by Melbourne’s Slow Dancer, which you can stream below. It’s a slow waltzing beauty, too, that simmers tenderly and sadly. Both remixes are available from Manchester Orchestra’s iTunes page, here.

Later this month, long time Atlanta rockers Manchester Orchestra will be releasing their fifth studio album, entitled A Black Mile To The Surface. They’ve already shared two stupendous tunes off the record, and now they’re back with a third. The Moth is chock full of gloriously charging, darkly shaded alt rock. It’s intense and gripping, urgent yet beautiful. If you missed out on MO’s prior two previews from their new record, you can take Alien for a spin below as well as watch the video for The Gold. The band will be touring extensively this fall. I’ve already picked up my tickets for their stop in San Francisco at the Regency Ballroom on September 16th. You can pre-order their new album A Black Mile To The Surface, here, before it arrives on July 28th on Loma Vista.

Manchester Orchestra put out a stellar album earlier this year named COPE, showcasing a more aggressive, heavier rock sound on some of the album tracks, like the superb single Top Notch, my favorite of the release. As we also heard subsequently with an acoustic version of Top Notch, MO’s tunes work wonders stripped down and acoustic. Well, all of you who loved the acoustic version, it’s time to celebrate, because Manchester Orchestra has gone ahead and decided to release HOPE, an album filled with re-worked versions of songs off COPE. Along with the announcement, they’ve unleashed this beautiful acoustic version of Girl Harbor. Hope drops November 18, and it’s going to be stunning.

I’m sure this has been floating around quite a bit in the past month or two, but I was enjoying this in spades earlier today, and I’ve yet to share it. Georgian rock band Manchester Orchestra’s song Top Notch is one of my favorite alt rock tunes of the year, off of fantastic album COPE. Of course, the original is one rocking, powerful anthem. This acoustic version is a gentler, superbly pensive listen.

Manchester Orchestra exploded back on the scene recently with their single Top Notch, the first off their upcoming album Cope, out April 1. Every Stone is the next taste off the album, and it’s another gem of an alt rock track. It once again embodies a more aggressive, heavier sound. It’s a helluva jam. Also, watch the new video for Top Notch below. These tunes are getting me pretty pumped for the new album.
