Emerging Norwegian starlet Emma Jensen took my breath away with her first original, Closer, over half a year ago. The singer songwriter and producer’s crystalline yet breathy voice is immaculate, a pristine aerial delight, while her enchanting electronic pop is pure and arresting. Emma has since returned with her second single, Make You Mine, and it’s just as dazzling a minimalist electronic pop ballad. “This time, I’m going to make you mine” she coos sweetly. Oh, but we’re already yours, and we have been since Closer. Make You Mine’s weightless bounding pop and spacious echoing beats, combined with Emma Jensen’s extraordinary voice, evoke the likes of Anna of the North, Kyla La Grange, and Noonie Bao. We’ve been following along with German producer SAINT WKND since he was named WKND, and we’re thrilled to share a new original named Make You Mine featuring creamy smooth cooing by Boy Matthews. Make You Mine is a fine follow up to earlier this year’s Hoodlem featuring hit, Golden. Its chords are sprightly and vivacious, youthful and spry. Make You Mine is a sweetly lifting banger that we’ll be taking with us deep into the summer months. Island-y Jamie xx and buoyant Clean Bandit come together for a generous drenching of future vibes on SAINT WKND’s dance floor filler. Make You Mine is our second taste from SAINT WKND’s debut EP Golden Youth.

It’s been a heckuva ride for Family Of The Year. A few years have passed since their album Loma Vista, but we all know the story of what happened when hit song Hero was featured on critically acclaimed tour de force film Boyhood last year. Family Of The Year blew up even more, to my great delight. Come September 4th, the Los Angeles based indie pop band will be releasing a new self titled album on Nettwerk Records. They’ve revealed lead single Make You Mine, a wonderfully summery indie pop charmer. I’d half expected a Hero like, sentimental heart tugger, but instead, we have a muggy, smile inducing anthem to soundtrack these sweltering days of summer. Family Of The Year is currently on tour with AWOLNATION.

If you want rock and roll, I’ll give you some of the best rock and roll I’ve heard today, in the form of new Glasgow, Scotland act Jim Valentine’s explosive, sultry Make You Mine. Trust me, when those guitars kick in, you’ll be beaming with delight and excitement. The song is a rip roaring treat sure to please the many fans of Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys, Jack White, and Jake Bugg. The newcomers just played their very first gig this past spring and have since performed alongside Baby Strange and The Amazing Snakeheads. Jim Valentine is currently capturing their slick, intimidating live show in the form of a double A-side scheduled for release in November. The impressive Make You Mine serves only as a preview for their forthcoming debut single. With a preview like this, I can’t imagine how stupendous their debut single might be, and I can’t wait to hear it. Jim Valentine, keep an eye (or, ear) on THEM!
