Magic Giant’s sold out headlining set at Popscene this spring is still one of the most magical shows I’ve attended all year long. The dashing Los Angeles trio lead the crowd on fervent sing-alongs, sometimes from the middle of the floor, surrounded by ecstatic fans. The trio premiered a new music video for their single Window yesterday with Baeble Music, which is a charming folk pop and brassy alt pop taste from the band’s debut full length, In The Wind. Magic Giant is currently on a US tour opening for Atlas Genius. Getting to see them live should be more impetus than necessary to get there early for their set. Find out more about their tour and follow along with Magic Giant on their website, here. Debut album In The Wind is available from iTunes, here.

Despite the fact that we’ve been long time fans of dashing Los Angeles trio Magic Giant for so long, we’ve yet to catch them live. I know, egregious, right? Come May 12th, we’ll finally be swept off our feet live by anthemic songs like Set on Fire and this new treat, Jade, when we catch them headlining Popscene in San Francisco. Jade, which arrives by lyric video, is an effulgent and infectious indie pop aria with that unmistakable folksy jangling tint that we love about Magic Giant. The uplifting, vivacious song arrives ahead of their LP In The Wind, due for release on May 19th. Pre-order on iTunes, here, or physically, here.

Los Angeles’ Magic Giant unleashed a splendorous anthem late last year, one I’m still utterly head over heels for. Set On Fire is a breathtaking beauty, an epic sweeping saga made up of dazzling folktronica and mellifluous alt pop. It’s that gorgeous tune that rising Austin based producer CLOUDCHORD has remixed for his latest track. CLOUDCHORD is proving himself responsible for some of my favorite remixes this year, and he gives Set On Fire a chill tropical, future sleek makeover more than perfect for the impending summer weekend. It’s a ravishing remix that amplifies my immense love for the original. CLOUDCHORD will be releasing original music soon, and his Magic Giant remix sets my own heart afire in anticipation for what’s to come.

To be honest, it’s an atrocity that I’ve somehow managed to have missed seeing Magic Giant live so far. The Los Angeles based band have wooed me plenty times over with their luminous, banjo strumming folk songs, and sweeping Set On Fire a personal favorite. Today, Magic Giant premiered an official video for the sweeping song, one filled with captivating footage from their recent performance at RISE Festival. The breathtaking beauty of the video’s lanterns is a fine fit for Set On Fire’s sweetly sentimental magnetism. Download the cathartic song now on iTunes. Magic Giant will be playing a string of shows throughout February and March. Hopefully, this time around, I’ll be able to make it out when they play Brick & Mortar in San Francisco on February 2nd.

LA’s Magic Giant does a spectacular job melding folk, pop, and alt on moving new single Set On Fire. It’s a breathtaking beauty, sure to set your ears on fervent fire instantaneously. Set On Fire might even be my favorite Magic Giant song yet, sweeping and soaring with a majestic quality that seems ever intimate and honest. This is one I’ll be eagerly returning to many times over into the cold months of winter, when its embers will keep my soul warm.

Magic Giant has certainly proven themselves to be magical and an endearing folk behemoth in the past. Today, the Los Angeles based band released their new self-titled EP, and off it comes this verdant charmer named Other Suns. While honeyed and emotive, the song is also very much an ebullient electronic folk stomper, with a steady rhythm and playful, sassy horns. This is the sort of song you want to sing along to with your friends, around an epic campfire, with an outlook of pure optimism and joy. It’s such a gorgeous, gliding treat.

I was just reading my friend’s review of a Magic Giant show that went down recently in Southern California this past weekend, and boom, I receive a press release announcing their latest single Let It Burn, available for free. It’s hard to resist the catchy song’s lively banjos and luminous folk melody. It’s a stomper of an uplifting gem with a contagious energy that’s sure to get a crowd going. Hopefully I’ll get to experience that live, too, as Magic Giant will be heading out on a tour in February.

Los Angeles indie folk band Magic Giant kick off their 2015 with a free 3 song EP and a debut tour. I’ve gleefully shared the opening track Glass Heart in the past, but the quality of the EP requires a share of another track on the release. The Dawn is a saccharine, banjo driven, and sentimental acoustic ballad. It’s a luminous, pop imbued folk song, full of slowly building uplifting grandeur. If you missed Glass Heart the last time around, check it out below. It’s such a glowing anthem, like a soaring blend of Walk The Moon and The Lumineers.

From right here in California comes a wonderful new folk pop band named Magic Giant. The Venice Beach based quartet has released a stomping, radiant debut single Glass Heart. Blending luminous pop, folk, and electronic, Glass Heart is an irresistible, uplifting, and utterly infectious treat. It’s as if The Lumineers’ folk music has been blended with the welcoming, endearing hooks of Walk The Moon. These guys are finishing up the final touches on their self produced debut EP, which features some amazing guest talent, including Rashawn Ross of Dave Matthews Band and Spencer Ludwig of Capital Cities.
