Even though I’m more of a morning person than I used to be, I still don’t enjoy getting up early in the morning, particularly during winter when it’s still dark outside, and temperature are frigid and cold. Magdalena Bay, however, seems to disagree. If waking up and climbing out of bed were as blissed out as the synthpop duo’s new single Waking Up, I’d probably hop right up in a jiffy (then dance myself silly). Plus, it’s probably helpful to have someone special to wake up next to, too.  Magdalena Bay exudes a whole lot of sweet sugary, foggy fluorescent 80s pop vibes on their irresistible new song, a glittery glam aural swaddle that counters everything I dislike about cold uninviting mornings. Waking Up’s analog twinkles and crisp beats are like Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs gone pop, particularly during its svelte male vocal sections, punctuated with some early Madonna and Say Lou Lou. Grab the single from iTunes, here.

When it comes to retro styled synthwave and glitzy prancing disco pop, we can always count on Magdalena Bay to bring the steamy smoldering, glamorous whirling goods. Mica Tenenbaum and Matthew Levin are back with tons of fluorescent nostalgia on sassy and dizzying pop bonanza Move Slow. You’ll want to move a whole lot to this one, but it’ll be very hard t o move slow. In fact, this one’s so feisty and chic that it even reminds me of Yacht at times, with a dashing infusion of The Knocks. You can snag Move Slow from Apple, here.

Magdalena Bay’s music has always been fit for a night time cruise down a neon lit highway, and Drive Alone is a prime example why. The duo of Mica Tenenbaum and Matthew Levin delivers a fresh and epic dose of 80′s nostalgia on their new synthwave and disco pop ballad. Despite its saccharine melody and iridescent opulence, there’s a dark and wistful, lonely and aching undertone to the space pop single. Extend your “drive” with Magdalena Bay’s prior singles on Soundcloud, here.

A midnight cruise down the highway is in order as we turn the volume knob way up high to Neon, a ravishing jam from a duo named Magdalena Bay. The pair likes to call their music “future 90′s throwback space pop”, which hits about all the right notes when it comes to Neon’s sexy grooving, murky swirling, disco dripping electronic pop. Steamy romance hangs heavy in the air. Hips sway. Palms sweat. Desire takes over. Neon can be purchased now from iTunes.
