Ugh, this song gets me every time. It’s such a hauntingly gut-wrenching ballad, and now that the new season of 13 Reasons Why has debuted on Netflix, a new version of The Night We Met has surfaced. Lord Huron’s song, which was originally from their album Strange Trails from 2015, gets a re-imagining that also features indie folk artist Phoebe Bridgers. Lord Huron is currently touring for their new album Vide Noir. The stacked soundtrack for season 2 of 13 Reasons Why is available, here.

I can never resist a good Lord Huron song, and there sure are plenty of those to enjoy, considering the Michigan folk rock outfit’s prolific career this decade. Their third full length, Vide Noir, will hit the shelves on April 20th. And we now get to sway to the melancholic amble of new song When The Night Is Over, of which singer songwriter and producer Ben Schneider says:

“We wanted this song to feel something like a Raymond Chandler story, a desperate search through a rain-soaked, neon-lit city. The groove section in the middle is one of my favorite passages on the album.” Fluttering orchestral strings join up with a steady paced beat and Lord Huron’s signature reediness on the aching song. You can pre-order Vide Noir, here

Additionally, the band has made the additional seven songs off Vide Noir available to stream at geo-locations across the US, Canada and UK. Locations include hikes, national parks, beaches and even a volcano. Head to followtheemeraldstar.com for more information. Who wouldn’t love a beautiful hike, with new Lord Huron songs waiting for us as a reward? It sounds divine to me.

Wait By The River is exactly the sort of Lord Huron song that makes me love the indie folk band even more than I did before. I’d wait by a river for all eternity if it means the Michigan four piece might show up someday to serenade me with a song as sweetly melting as this dreamy ballad. Perhaps they’d follow the song up with The Night We Met. They might leave me by the riverside bawling my heart out with a set like that. Their new gently jangling, tawngy swaying song is the lead single off their highly anticipated new album Vide Noir, which arrives on April 20th via Whispering Pines / Republic Records. Pre-order, here, and catch them on their expansive headline tour in the US this spring, which extends into Europe this fall. The travels will bring them to the bay on June 3rd, when they play the Fox Theater in Oakland.

It’s not everyday that we sound the horn upon encountering news of an exciting new festival, but we just can’t help ourselves when it comes to ID10T, a music festival and “comic conival” created and hosted by comedian, musician, actor, television host, and Nerdist founder Chris Hardwick. AND the festival is happening right here, in the Bay, at the Shoreline Amphitheatre just south of me this June.

ID10T features an incredible lineup of musical talent. It’s surprising how vast and expansive the lineup is, ranging from Weezer to Crystal Castles, Girl Talk to OK Go. A sure to be incendiary Mad Decent dance tent also features long time I Heart Moosiq supported production stars, like Jai Wolf, Gryffin, Madeon, and more.

Alongside all that fabulous music comes a whole lot of daytime comic book and art related activities featuring famed creators plus a full exhibitor village. As if that isn’t already plenty to take in, there’s also going to be a comedy tent.

You all know I’m a music fanatic, but I also spend my spare time watching The Walking Dead, marveling over art, enjoying Marvel films, and more. ID10T really can’t be more exciting, a perfect way to spend a summer weekend. It also kicks off at a more than affordable price compared to all the other events and festivals that cost an arm and a leg these days. Find out more about ID10T, here.

Los Angeles folk rockers Lord Huron dropped an excellent sophomore album this past Spring named Strange Trails. The latest single announced from the record is Hurricane (Johnnie’s Theme). Bright and jangling Hurricane (Johnnie’s Theme) is a rollicking ditty. It may be gorgeous and verdant folk, but there’s an undeniable spark to the song that makes me want to get up and dance. If you’ve yet to get your paws on Strange Trails, head over to the official site.

I’m still very much stuck on Lord Huron’s melancholic tour de force, The Night We Met, and yet here they are again, revealing the next new track off their forthcoming album Strange Trails. The Los Angeles folk band again have me mesmerized with a far more alt country flavored gem titled Fool For Love. It’s an offering that’s more jangly than the prior share, with an upbeat, stomping energy and some charming, Elvis meets Johnny Cash like hooks. Strange Trails drops on April 7th.

Lord Huron dropped a mysterious trailer for their sophomore album Strange Trails the other day, and it had me all hyped up and excited for the coming release. The Los Angeles based indie folk band has since unveiled a new song on My Old Kentucky Blog. The Night We Met is an exceptionally beautiful and melancholic song. It might be the most hauntingly twangy and movingly sentimental song I’ve listened to all week. Watch the teaser for Strange Trails below.
