Today, I learned that a song named “Bad Things” can be an astoundingly good thing. Treat your ears to the breathtaking beauty of Lizzy Land’s latest single, and you’ll understand what I mean. The Los Angeles based singer songwriter and producer is thoroughly enchanting on this calculated glissade of a pop aria. Bad Things is both heartbreaking and empowering with its synthwavey throbs and Lizzy Land’s pristine vocals. It’s pure heartfelt magic, a deeply touching balance between dark and light that borders on Hundred Waters’ artsy atmospheric electro pop, but with a Billie Ocean-esque filmy vulnerability. Bad Things is the sort of song that leaves me in a long, drawn out sigh of torn up bliss. Grab the single from iTunes, here.

NYC based Swedish producer Ben Phipps has enamored us with his house and pop hybrids many a time before, often linking up with fantastic vocalists like Ashe and Mike Ruby. On Mrs Mr, he delivers a synth chugging dance pop soundscape topped off with enrapturing vocals by Los Angeles singer songwriter Lizzy Land. Multi-layered, brisk enchanting Mrs Mr feels earnest yet playful, impassioned but mischievous. You can find the pair’s gorgeous collaboration via major outlets, here. Watch the official lyric video for Mrs Mr below.

Last month, Los Angeles based chanteuse Lizzy Land put out an excellent remix package for her dusky twinkling, spacious thrumming electropop aria, Sweet Melodies. Among its four fine edits is this remix by Iowan producer Schier. His Sweet Melodies is a sublime fantasy world of sparkly chimes, seductive vocals, deep warblings synths, and spacious skipping beats. It’s a flawless suffusion of future disco, deep house, and enchanting pop on Schier’s sleek luxuriant remix. Lizzy Land’s Sweet Melodies remix pack also features remixes by Armando, SUNNY & BARE, and ROOMS. Stream in full on Soundcloud, here. Purchase Schier’s remix as a single from iTunes, here.

Mating Ritual, Ryan Marshall Lawhon’s fascinating and rousing project that came out of the ashes of Pacific Air a couple years back, has linked up with Los Angeles songbird and prior collaborator Lizzy Land for a lavish new treat. Night Lies swoops skyward, a saccharine eruption of glittering enchanting synthpop. Moonlit exuberant Night Lies carries some M83 aerodynamics alongside a St. Lucia meets Savoir Adore verdant rainforest richness. It drops in as the second taste from Mating Ritual’s debut full length, “How You Gonna Stop It?“, a two volume release with the first edition arriving January 24th and Volume 2 due to land in April. For details about Mating Ritual’s forthcoming tour through San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Denver, and more, head to his website, here.

Hop on board the cosmic love submarine to Lizzy Land and enjoy the ‘Sweet Melodies’ of her indie pop tune. It’s a sweet debut from the LA songstress who sings about being stuck in a daze. Ironic that there’s this transference of energy because I’m left in a daze imagining this song warm up my ears on The Polo Field at Coachella.

As someone who was very fond of now disbanded Pacific Air, my heartbreak was much assuaged by the fact that we now have Mating Ritual, a project created by Pacific Air’s once lead singer, Ryan Marshall Lawhon. Off of the Los Angeles based project’s just released self titled debut EP comes Cold, which features co-writer and vocalist Lizzy Land. The two come together to give us a song that is unmistakably Mating Ritual or Pacific Air with its enchanting cascade of synths and ensnaring hooks. However, Cold is also incredibly dreamy and gooey. I find myself shivering, not because the song is chilling as it name might imply, but because its delicate and fine spun beauty, much magnified by Lizzy Land’s enchanting vocals alongside Ryan’s quivering cooing, tugs gently and effectively at my exposed heart. Stream Mating Ritual’s debut EP in full on Soundcloud.
