Every time I listen to The Knocks’ Trouble, my heart finds itself aglow with pure joy. The groovy sleek disco funk jam, which features IHM revered musician Absofacto, is one of my favorite tracks off the Brooklyn duo’s excellent Testify EP. Despite its ebullience, Trouble is a double edged composition. There’s plenty of nostalgia and melancholy hidden underneath its golden locks and dreamy chops. Los Angeles based producer LIONE amplifies the brighter side of the song on a gorgeously soaring remix of Trouble. The track has been deservedly drumming up a ton of acclaim and buzz. If you need an uplifting dose of cosmic future bass, take flight with LIONE’s breathtaking edit.

The last we heard from Los Angeles’ LIONE, the production talent gave us a bedazzling remix of one of my favorite Purity Ring songs, Bodyache, launching himself into the spotlight as an exciting new producer to watch. That premonition proves itself on the mark now that LIONE follows up that edit with a beautiful original. Leave This Place is a halcyon progressive floater. Its ethereal arpeggios and cosmic synths are celestial, like Porter Robinson but with an added boost of wavy sleekness and pastel glow. LIONE’s dreamy soothing Leave This Place is a free download, here.

As it’s been awhile since all the buzz surround Purity Ring’s terrific sophomore album Another Eternity, I was quite surprised to encounter a brand new remix of stand out album track Bodyache, a favorite off the well rounded full length. Having been a die hard fan of the future pop duo from Canada from long before they released a debut album, I can’t help but have a soft spot for anything Purity Ring related, so I eagerly dove into Los Angeles producer LIONE’s remix with little hesitation. At the same time, I was also ready to be overly critical of the track, but any apprehension I felt was totally unnecessary. LIONE infuses Bodyache with bedazzling dance energy, taking it from its seat of bewitchment and enchantment to an apex of surging, rippling exhilaration. While Bodyache might be one of the least dark tracks from Purity Ring, it’s never been more lustrous and scintillating than on LIONE’s remix. Free download, here.
