Singaporean singer songwriter Linying takes me back to France and then breaks my heart with her new song, Paris 12. I was so lost in Paris 12 when it first surfaced last afternoon that I sat in silence at my desk, listening to the song on repeat through my headphones over and over again. Time stopped and I found myself transported into the very world depicted in the song’s artwork. I was walking the streets of a Parisian arrondissement, contemplating matters of the heart as a golden sun sank, elongating the shadows of buildings around me in a rather dramatic fashion. Paris 12 is a testament to the fact that powerful music doesn’t have to be ornately florid or heavily crowded with all sorts of frilly tweaks and twirls. Sometimes, it’s the simplest, purest form of music that is most heartfelt and affecting. Paris 12, the title track from Linying’s debut EP due out September 30th, is exactly that… a delicate and crystalline hymnal on which Linying’s voice waxes so yearning poignant and vividly poetic that we’re transfixed, touched to the very core. This is the sort of music that begs a follow along with the lyrics, which Linying has kindly provided in the song’s Soundcloud description. Head to Facebook to watch today’s new video for the song, and pre-order Linying’s Paris 12 EP, here.

Singapore’s Linying is a graceful songbird on Alpine, an astonishing folktronica gem that glides through the air with spectacular elegance. She brings me to catharsis with her tender lush ballad. Flawless silken vocals drift effortlessly through an emotionally charged, atmospheric sweeping soundscape while Alpine’s wistful poetic lyrics tug gingerly at my heart. Alpine is a song with the lush grandiosity of Bon Iver and the delicate vulnerability of Birdy. The single is available now on iTunes via Akira Records.

German electronic duo Artenvielfalt remixed Felix Jaehn’s Shine, featuring Freddy Verano & Linying. I’m quite fond of the original catchy jam, and Artenvielfalt manages to morph it into a funky and bass resplendent house tune that’s purely seductive and impossible not to start dancing around to.

Picking up the groovy beats with this dope new track from German producer Felix Jaehn that has been stirring up some deserved buzz. Shine features fellow producer Freddy Verano and Singaporean folk songstress Linying, and it’s such a playful nu-disco flavored jam, complete with sexy sax, springy guitar licks, vibrant piano chords, and flittery flutes. It’s sounds a bit like Flight Facilities, but far more drafty and velvety.
