Some great news for stateside fans of Crystal Fighters has surfaced this week. The ever endearing folktronica, Balearic pop, and alt dance crew from London will be visiting us this spring in support of their third studio album Everything Is My Family. You can find details about the tour and tickets, here. The band has also shared an official video for album single Lay Low, an airy charming tune that was inspired by the passing of drummer Andrea Marongiu. Lay Low’s main chorus came from an impromptu backstage chant at one of their final shows together. There’s an inviting warmth to Lay Low. The effulgent jangler is “about looking after your friends and family” or “taking the time to try and leave a positive impact on earth everyday, as if it’s your last.” Crystal Fighters’ Everything Is My Family album is available via Spotify and iTunes.

Spector laying low with Lay Low

July 16, 2012

In a tiny dressing room at the Isle of Wight Festival 2012, awesome up and coming band Spector performed a stripped down version of their tune Lay Low. They’re already fairly known in the UK, and I’m just waiting for the international explosion. Even stripped down, they seem so rock and roll glam and full of personality and charisma and energy. Fred, you rock my world. I can’t wait for the debut, and I can’t wait to see them live again someday. One day, they’ll play the big venues and arenas exclusively. And I’ll remember when I got see them a few short feet away in a small venue, then briefly hung out with them after.
