Laura Welsh’s voice is always captivating. She’s released a single-take music video for ‘Red’. It’s a no thrills music video which truly puts Laura’s vocal beauty on display with a piano in the background. This track is from her See Red EP which was released at the end of 2016.

By now, I thought I’d be very much used to how magnificent and majestic Laura Welsh’s music can be, yet here I am again, jaw agape, as the UK artist sweeps me away with a spectacular new single named Sex & Violence. Despite its dark title, Sex & Violence is a soaring electronic pop song with hints of smoky BANKS and tons of dramatic grandeur plus vocal depth akin to Florence Welch. Laura says of the breathtaking track, “…I always write from my heart, from what I observe and most importantly what I see as the truth in experience. Creatively this has possibly been the strongest year of my life which I expect is due to much of the turbulence that has gone on…”. Sex & Violence is a stunning follow up to debut album Soft Control.

Laura Welsh – Breathe Me In

February 19, 2015

I’ve been a fan of Laura Welsh ever since I heard her Robin Hannibal (Rhye) produced Cold Front over a year ago, but some of you might be more recent fans, drawn in by her spectacular guest features on Gorgon City’s debut album or her contribution to the monumental Fifty Shades Of Grey soundtrack. Laura brings her opulent and elegant electronic R&B/soul sultriness to new song Breathe Me In, a sensual and passionate taste off her forthcoming debut album Soft Control. The full length drops March 9th on Outsiders/Polydor in the UK and Island Records in the US. Her luscious song and graceful ambiance remind me to pre-order the album ASAP.

The backing vocals and production at the very start of Ang Low’s Wild Horses reminded me of FKA Twigs’ music, but then the Brooklyn musician’s smooth, soulful vocals kick in and the song takes off towards slow building grandiosity. The song was co-written with Laura Welsh, who recently collaborated with Gorgon City on Here For You and was also the topic of many IHM features in the past. The two have also teamed up quite recently on Welsh’ single Lifeline, so this new collaboration effort comes as no huge surprise. The passionate and majestic Wild Horses will be out October 13 on Super Recordings.

OFFICIAL VID: Laura Welsh – Break The Fall

July 4, 2014

UK songstress Laura Welsh dropped a video for her recent new tune Break The Fall, and somehow, combined with this black and white video, the song comes off even more haunting and deliciously dark than ever before. It’s a grandiose experience from the artist, who recently also guested on huge tropical summer hit Here For You, from Gorgon City. Laura’s vocals are so incredibly powerful on Break The Fall. With the ominous production, I find myself reminded of BANKS, with a delectable, abundant dose of Florence Welch. Hey, Welsh… Welch.. just noticed that.

French electro house producer Surkin dropped this remix of UK duo Gorgon City’s Laura Welsh featuring tropical house hit Here For You, and it’s most certainly a welcome rendition of the summer jam. It leaves some of the euphoric original’s vocals intact, but gives the jam a much heavier and darker tread.

Fresh off guesting on Gorgon City’s terrific tropical house summer jam Here For You comes this new powerful ballad from UK songstress Laura Welsh. The commanding single, Break The Fall, will officially release August 11 on Outsiders/Polydor. It’s as grand and magnificent as soulful pop songs come, with some very Banks like electropop synths.
