With a silky spryness that evokes Maggie Rogers, beautifully supple vocals that recall Billie Eilish, and grand choruses that channel MØ, Dublin based singer songwriter LAOISE re-entangles our hearts with new single Bother. The magnificent electronic pop song erupts with brassy flares and resounding beats, all the while telling a poignant tale about a catastrophic relationship. Bother is a huge and welcome return from the gifted talent. Its electropop is complex, corralling elements from a wide variety of music, including glacial alt pop and dance-ready electronica. You can grab LAOISE’s new single from iTunes, here.

Rich in feels I truly am while I’m lost in the wealth of dusky shuddering bass and lithe coiling synths of LAOISE’s sensual haunting, moody simmering new single. The Dublin based singer songwriter presents us with shadowy electro pop and silky R&B pop on Rich, her first new release since the release of her debut EP Halfway. Rich is our first taste of her next EP, due out next year. Its minimalist soundscape, gossamer vocals, and glossy swells are reminiscent of James Blake but with the more luxuriant and lavish consistency like that of BANKS. Rich can also be streamed via Spotify, here.

Shooting comes from LAOISE’s debut EP, Halfway, which the Dublin based singer songwriter released a week ago. It’s a wispy evocative, glacial haunting pop ballad, on which her soft, crystalline vocals draws us deep into an intimately poignant clasp. The song is LAOISE’s favorite off her EP. It’s also one the most barren and raw of its four tracks, allowing her to delve into new territories and emotions when she was in the midst of writing it. LAOISE explains that ‘Shooting with no ammo’ is the effort you go through to finally reach something, only to realize you messed up on the first step, and starting again doesn’t always feel worth it. “It’s that moment when you feel so trapped and lost, going around in circles over and over and wondering if you’ll ever break the cycle.” You can stream LAOISE’s Halfway EP, which includes previously featured jewels like Halfway and YOU, on Soundcloud, here.

Dublin based singer songwriter LAOISE sings about forbidden fruit on her new single, Halfway, and to be honest, her bewitching and alluring pop itself feels like a forbidden fruit. Halfway lures us in with a mystical aura and much sinuous enchantment. We wade into Halfway’s dark electronic pop not knowing what we’ll encounter but inexorably drawn to its core, nearly convinced something this captivating and beautiful must be forbidden. Some have compared LAOISE’s finespun fusion of hip hop, R&B, pop, and electronica to Nao, BANKS, and abra, but I find it incredibly unique. Halfway comes on the heels of spellbinding debut single YOU from earlier this year. You can also stream Halfway off of Soundcloud, below.

Thanks to the flourishing digital age in which we live, there have been plenty of talented musicians who have been able to introduce themselves to us by impressing us with their innovative covers. Once in awhile, these musicians take it to the next level by presenting us with phenomenal original material. Dublin’s LAOISE proves herself one such artist with her debut track, You. The Irish electro singer fuses glittering electropop with moody burning R&B to give us a trap suffused spellbinder that merges sultry Banks and dark enchanting Melanie Martinez with sassy seductive NAO. You is our first taste from LAOISE’s debut EP, Halfway, set to arrive in January.
