It was an absolute pleasure and delight to premiere La Bouquet’s performance of Loveless on Sunshine Sessions earlier this year. If you missed out on the feature, make sure you take in the poignantly heartfelt video, here. Now that Bryan Sammis (The Neighbourhood, Olivver the Kid) and Jake Lopez are back with a fresh new tune named Cruel, we’re more than ready to dive into a new lavish dose of the duo’s vivid music once again. Cruel is a widescreen ballad bursting with richly layered instrumentals and skyscraping choruses. Alt pop and alt rock interweave on the heart-bursting track, whose lyrics are an age-old lament spurned by bitter heartbreak. Strangely enough, La Bouquet seems to have scrapped all their tracks from Soundcloud. Perhaps this signifies some exciting new developments for the duo. We’ll keep our ears perked for any news. Revisit their Heavy Sunshine EP on Spotify, here.

[PREMIERE] La Bouquet – Loveless (Sunshine Sessions)

Leonardo Da Vinci once famously said, “a life without love, is no life at all.”  Even if some of our hearts have tucked themselves away to avoid getting crushed for the umpteenth time, we can live vicariously through the stripped back beauty and intimate charm of this finely rendered new acoustic video from La Bouquet. We join Bryan Sammis (The Neighbourhood, Olivver the Kid) and Jake Lopez as they melt us to no end with their poignantly heartfelt rendition of Loveless. La Bouquet made a huge imprint on the new music scene over a year ago with the debut single, a sleek stirring, infectious driving torrent of earthy alt rock and rambunctious alt pop. You can watch La Bouquet’s music video for Loveless, here.

The band’s performance of Loveless in their new “Sunshine Sessions” video is immaculate. Every strum, each twang, and even the raspy drawl of La Bouquet’s vocals on this gentle lullaby are deeply affecting, as if rising and reverberating from secret chambers within our own hearts. “Maybe I’m just hopeless enough to feel alone, but selfish enough to write this song,” they coo. Ah, but that’s there they get it wrong. It’s selfless of them to gift us such an earnestly moving ballad. It’s a heart-on-the-sleeve confessional, a piercingly sad and strikingly sincere meditation that feels particularly vulnerable and exposed on their cozy and pastoral new arrangement.

Loveless can be found on La Bouquet’s four track debut EP, Heavy Sunshine, which is available from iTunesAmazonGoogle Play, and Spotify. Keep up with La Bouquet via FacebookTwitterInstagram, or their website, here.

News regarding La Bouquet’s debut EP nearly snuck past our radar, and I’m infinitely glad my keen eye happened to catch some chatter on my socials regarding the release. We’ve been massive fans of the project, helmed by Bryan Sammis, formerly of The Neighbourhood and Olivver the Kid, and his long time collaborator and friend Jake Lopez. It would’ve been a sad affair if we missed out on the new songs included on their fine release. Take for example this breathtaking gust of heartsick nostalgia and melting alt/synthpop named ‘Kiss Me, Kill Me’. Soaring guitars, crisp 80s drums, and hearty synths make this love song a superbly satisfying, fulfilling listen. It’s a must for fans of The Chain Gang Of 1974, Great Good Fine OK, and The Naked and Famous. Make sure you check out La Bouquet’s debut EP Heavy Sunshine on Spotify, here, which includes previously extolled gems like Loveless and Loser Baby.

After a long four month wait, La Bouquet has returned with a second song. At the helm of the budding project is Bryan Sammis, formerly of The Neighborhood and Olivver The Kid, and his longtime friend and collaborator Jake Lopez. Together, they woos us with rich and vibrant alt pop on new single Loser Baby. Though there’s plenty of brooding to be found on Loser Baby, the song is grandiloquent and flowery, a multi-layered force to be reckoned with that will whisk you right off your feet. Bryan and Jake have been working on a La Bouquet album and will be revealing more music as the year progresses. You can also stream Loser Baby off of Soundcloud below.

La Bouquet, a fresh new project created by Bryan Sammis (The Neighbourhood, Olivver The Kid) and longtime collaborator and friend Jake Lopez, makes a grand entrance with Loveless. The pair already have a full record of music prepared for us, and Loveless is the second to last song that they wrote after Sammis’ ex broke up with him in New York after a tour. That heartfelt sentimentality resonates true and strong on this sleek stirring alt rock anthem. Its bittersweet aching glides smoothly, resulting in a seamlessly rhapsodic experience. I know I’m already waiting more aural “bouquets” from these two fellows.
