I know you’ve been obsessing over MGMT’s brilliant new tune Little Dark Age all week long, just as I have been, but how about some classic MGMT courtesy of Codeko? The UK producer brings back MGMT’s Kids, a song that was once so pervasive that I even used it as my ring tone, with a stupendous future bass and chill trap remix that will leave you more than breathless. Codeko’s remix is luminescent lifting, panoramic sweeping, and full of triumphant wonder. Revel in its elation and exultation, and dance like it’s the weekend, because it almost is. The track is a free download, here.

We fell hard for LIA LIA when the Berlin chanteuse made her debut earlier this year with an entrancing form of aerated electronic pop on OLYMP. She’s now followed it up with a dusky bewitching new piece named Kids. Imagine if Anna of the North and Billy Eilish’s lithesome pop were fused with a slight hint of Kero Kero Bonito and a sliver of Mallrat. That delicate effervescence and crystalline beauty can be found in Kids. She says the song is about “being shredded and shyly falling in love, while still being stuck between past and instant”. The song comes with a visualizer which LIA LIA directed and produced herself. You can find Kids on iTunes, here.

Fresh off delivering us one of the year’s most thrilling electronic sets at Popscene in San Francisco but a few weeks ago, Norwegian producer Jerry Folk has unleashed his new The Kids Tape in full. This four track compendium, which Jerry previously explained is not an EP or an album but a series that represents what he’s doing at the moment, opens with a moving gem named Kids. The ambient electronica of Kids,

backed by the sound of children playing, is uplifting yet beautifully melancholic at the same time. Kids is like a dusty music box hidden in the attic, magically enchanting yet full of worn memories. You open it up, and out comes hope and youth, age and time… things we increasingly contemplate the older we get, oftentimes with much ennui or anguish. Kids is a mellow soothing lullaby. It reminds us that a bright eyed, virtuous beaming kid is still within us all. As the track’s grandeur slowly builds, so do our hearts replenish with sanguine wonder. Watch the visually stunning music video for Kids below via La Belle Musique’s YouTube channel. Stream Jerry Folk’s The Kids Tape on Soundcloud.

London’s Aaron, not to be confused with French pop act AaRON (yes, capitalization matters a lot when it comes to band names), is back with their first enchanting single since their Letters To Jonny EP half a year ago. Kids is an alluring fusion of shimmering dream pop and grooving alt pop. There’s a surreal glamour to the retro hazy tune, a wonderfully punchy and hooking treat. Kids gets a release on November 5th.

Oh, how I do love well executed covers of songs I dig, and Canadian producer Wolf Saga brings it on this amazing new rendition of MGMT super hit Kids. Johnny Saga teams back up with LYON again on the cover release. Enchanting and wistful, Wolf Saga’s Kids encapsulates that nostalgic feeling when reminded of a time long gone, a youth long lost, and mistakes long past. It’s a worthy revival of a MGMT song that everyone loved. Random fact: I even utlized the Kids synth riff as my phone ring tone oh so long ago.

Monsieur Adi’s remix of Beyoncé’s Grown Woman

July 22, 2013

Let’s begin on this slogging slow Monday afternoon with a much needed banging remix by rising French producer Monsieur Adi. He created a club ready hit in his electro house version of Beyoncé’s latest single Grown Woman. Monsieur Adi has been very impressive with his remixes these days. I’ve shared a number of them. One of my favorites is his remix of Mikky Ekko’s Kids. Revisit that one below.

French electronic producer Monsieur Adi has been winning me over with impressive remixes for awhile now. His latest pick to exercise sonic wizardry over is Mikky Ekko’s Kids, and the delightully upbeat and smooth remix is one I’m going to listen to many, many times over. It’s such a polished, well remixed track that it doesn’t seem like a remix. The rapturous, original tune is Mikky Ekko’s latest single, which releases on August 13. Watch the new video for it below. Funny how a great remix can make an already fantastic, soon to be a hit song grow on you ten fold.

It feels like it’s been ages since I’ve posted any new Mikky Ekko, though it really hasn’t been that long. Somehow, that milestone he hit with being featured on Rihanna’s song Stay feels like a long, long time ago! Despite the sudden mainstream limelight (all after we’ve been a fan since last year), Mikky Ekko seems to be very much focused on doing his own thing instead of getting caught up in that current. He premiered a very upbeat pop track today titled Kids, and it’s far removed from some of the R&B faceted sultry pop that first put him on our map. Ekko’s vocals still tends to  remind me of Ryan Tedder at times. Kids drops as a single on August 13, and the catchy single will continue to propel this guy on his meteoric rise. The Clams Casino produced Pull Me Down is still my personal fave Mikky Ekko tune.
