Loveless Way by Seattle based electropop artist Belgian Fog, aka Robert Dale, is quite the propulsive jam. The bittersweet, yet bright tune fell into my inbox over the weekend, and I knew I had to share the moment I heard it. Robert Dale is, after all, an employee of Seattle’s KEXP, which I’m a fan of for all the amazing studio performance clips they always share on their YouTube channel. The soaring production, staccato beats, and Dale’s delightful falsettos are an addictive combo, indeed.

Tegan and Sara KEXP set

December 31, 2012

Tegan and Sara fans, I know you’re out there lurking. It’s time to rejoice. The twins did a wonderful four song set for KEXP. And it’s a mix of goodies new and old. They perform Walking With A Ghost, Living Room, Closer, and Back In Your Head.

Allo Darlin’

December 31, 2012

Thanks to KEXP, I’ve chanced upon this UK tween pop band Allo Darlin’ and found myself adoring them. They released a sophomore album earlier this year titled Europe. They have a very laid back indie rock, vintage pop sound. Sometimes there’s a glaringly obvious The Smiths influence, which is always a plus. The soothing, adorable vocals and lo-fi, relaxed music also makes me think of The Drums and some other UK pop bands that I love. Check out a few of the KEXP vids below, and I’ll tack on a few official Allo Darlin’ videos as well. I think I’m going to purchase their sophomore album. Yes. Yes I will.

Synths galore!

October 25, 2012

Whoa, have you ever seen that many synths at one time? Apparat Organ Quartet is an Iceland band that’s been around since 1999. Don’t get mislead by their name. First of all, they have nothing to do with the musician Apparat. Second of all, they consist of five guys. Third of all, four of them play keyboards while one drums. So, I really have no idea what the story behind their name is. This is some pretty cool stuff though. Check out these videos from when they visited the KEXP studio on October 12. Hint: they’re super synthy. 😉

The Head and the Heart on KEXP with new song

September 22, 2012

Yep, indie folksters The Head and the Heart graced the KEXP studios earlier this month. Today, KEXP released several videos from that wonderful session. One such video is an as yet untitled new song. It’s stark, emotional, raw, honest… all the characteristics we expect from THatH’s lovely, rustic music. Sniffle. I can’t wait for more new material from the Seattle folk pop band.

Here’s the other clips from the session:
