Pray For Me is too huge of a stellar tune not to give it some praise on IHM. It involves two of the biggest artists of the moment, hip hop genius Kendrick Lamar and R&B sensation The Weeknd. It’s no surprise that the pairing is so divine. Both artists bring the heat on the hip hop and electro-R&B track. Pray For Me will be on the soundtrack for Marvel’s Black Panther. The super stacked official soundtrack album arrives February 9th, while the film arrives February 16th.  Pre-order, here. You can also stream Pray For Me via Spotify, here.

It’s a behemoth task to take on a Kendrick Lamar song, whether you’re trying to remix it, cover it, or completely re-imagine it, as Los Angeles based producer, singer, and multimedia artist Xie has triumphantly done.  XieflippedKendrick Lamar’s LOVE and made it all her own. She drenches the hip hop track in warm pastels and pulls it into airy effervescent future pop territory with a cover re-work both honey sweet and peppery piquant. Xie’s future bass LOVE sounds like a cross between Olivia O’brien and Terror Jr, and it’s a generous free download, here. You can also listen to the track on Spotify, here.

I’d caught wind of how much of a behemoth collaboration the latest Vince Staples single would be days ahead of its release last Friday, alongside the rest of the Long Beach rapper’s sophomore album Big Fish Theory, and I’d been eagerly awaiting to check it out. I mean, how often does a track come out that involves as many celebrated artists as Yeah Right? The monstrous hip hop and electronica track lives every bit up to the hype. Yeah Right is a razor sharp, tense gripping jolter involving cutting edge producer SOPHIE, venerated future bass pioneer Flume, esteemed hip hop artist Kendrick Lamar, and Sydney singer songwriter KUČKA, who’s already collaborated with Flume on his album Skin. You’d think there’d be too many “chefs in the kitchen”, but Yeah Right works perfectly. You can recognize each artist’s contribution to the song, whether it’s the carbonated vivacity of SOPHIE, or the jarring grit of Flume, or Kendrick’s tense and en point delivery, or

KUČKA’s instantly recognizable, sharply captivating voice.

Does Sia ever put out a single that isn’t incredibly infectious? The obvious answer to that is no, and her sheer power of her deep vibrant voice is always a welcome treat, particularly when surrounded by dashing synths and resounding beats as it is on this ravishing remix by UK producer Kalm. Kendrick featured The Greatest gets an balmy future bass and effulgent melodic trap makeover well worthy of the song’s title on Kalm’s not so “calm” re-imagining. The banger of a remix is a free download, here.

You may be a Kendrick Lamar fan, like so many of us are, but trust me, you haven’t heard his song “i” quite in this fashion. Rising producer INSTRUM synced up with another emerging talent named Carneyval on a remix that utilizes Jackson Breit’s vocal cover. The combined skills and aptitude from all these puzzle pieces of genius serve to forget an irresistible future house and deep house jam, millions of miles removed from Kendrick’s hip hop original. The smoothly bouncing anthem is a soulful must for our muggy summer months. Download the song for free, here.

Los Angeles based production act DMND City gives Kendrick Lamar’s well loved hit Swimming Pools a filthy trap remix that’s fully satisfying and intoxicating. DMND City is a new project created by Thomas Sagstad and Jae Lyons. Their collaboration came about during the time they worked on a record for the Fifty Shades Of Grey soundtrack last December. Their rendition of Swimming Pools is thoroughly dark and wicked.

Brooklyn duo Break Science absolutely KILL it on this amazing track, Vibe Walk, a mind blowing mashup that blends Kendrick Lamar and Tycho. Kendrick Lamar and Tycho! Who’d have thought??? The track, which premiered a few days ago on This Song Is Sick, is an incredible blend of hip hop, soul, electronic, and chilled out downtempo. There’s plenty of vibe to go around here, no one can kill THIS vibe. I had to pick my jaw off the ground when I first heard Vibe Walk.
