How do you follow up a debut as summer buoyant and shiny gleaming as Together? By releasing a sensational second single like Only With You, of course, especially when you’re as talented and magnetic as Chicago’s CYN. Only With You showcases CYN’s more darkly bewitching side. Its stiletto strut and rumbling bass are a sharp contrast to Together’s sweetly prancing pop. The effect is thrilling and scintillating, like static electricity. Felix Snow, whom we’re well familiar with from his solo work, his production collaborations with artist like Kiiara, and his role in Terror Jr, crafts an elastic bouncing, effervescent lurching environment in which CYN’s striking voice more than thrives. CYN, who’s signed to Katy Perry’s label Unsub Records, has wittily linked up with Snow to create a melting pot of dramatic alt pop and fizzy electro pop on her second single.

To the Windy City we go for a zestful and piquant electro pop gem from rising chanteuse and enchanting vocalist CYN. Together is her debut single, though we’d previously been enthralled by her voice on Midoca’s Heartbeat. It’s a summer buoyant, shiny gleaming flutter of effervescent and playful pop. CYN recently signed to Katy Perry’s Unsub Records after the pop superstar fell in love with CYN’s voice and her ability to write a creative pop song. We’re more than ready for more of sweet and sassy, ethereal and captivating CYN.

There’s no denying the infectiousness of Katy Perry’s new Skip Marley featuring hit Chained To The Rhythm, plus it marks a fresh and intriguing departure in sound for the artist with very humble roots. I for one can’t help but love Chained To The Rhythm’s funky hook and pertinent message. And now, I can’t resist this dashing new remix of the track by none other than well loved British outfit Hot Chip. They give the track a choppy house workover that will keep you moving all night long, chained forevermore to its rhythm. You can also stream the remix off of Soundcloud, below.

Katy Perry and Purity Ring are two things I never thought to put together in a sentence, yet here we are, about to delve deep into a remix of the pop star’s hit song Rise by the adored dark electronic pop duo from Canada. Purity Ring gives Rise an official remix that takes it into haunting goth territory. This witch house-y Rise is in fact a bustling dance edit despite its syrupy quality. It even boasts a touch of tropical future flavor in its profile. If I were Left Shark, I’d don some black apparel and an eerie cape in celebration of this deliciously opaque edit. I wouldn’t mind if more Katy Perry songs received a similarly dusky treatment.

Sure, I’m a little belated on this one, but the moment I encountered it, I knew, I’d better share it, in case some of you missed out on it a few months ago, too. Bringing back those summer vibes aplenty is Los Angeles’ Pretty Sister who offer up a killer cover of Katy Perry’s California Girls, with some Tupac goodness thrown in, too. I bet Left Shark would approve of dancing on the beach, uh, in the surf, to this sexy smooth and funky R&B pop jam, even though memories of that poor fella are quickly fading into the distant past.

I bet it’s been awhile since you’ve heard Katy Perry’s once ubiquitous hit Hot N Cold. But let’s dive back into that song, sass and all, with a glorious cover by Brooklyn’s Empress Of. She turns the pop song into an ethereal creature that sparkles, twirls, chimes, and darts magically. Lorely Rodriguez’s lofty vocals radiate with an enchanting magnificence on the icy electronic pop interpretation. It’s likely one that Grimes and Georgia might approve of, too. The dreamy electropop artist also unleashed a video today for her jagged and entrancing single How Do You Do It, which you can watch below.

The moment I first heard Australia’s Betty Who last year, I knew, she’s going to be a super pop star someday. Her sound evokes a blend of spunky P!nk and sassy Katy Perry, but with plenty of her own magnificent, enthralling style too. Since then, I’ve caught her live in a small club and been swept away by her charm and charisma live. She’s stunning on stage, captivating the crowd easily with her easy going, down to earth bubbly attitude. There’s seriously nothing to dislike about this fantastic, tall lady (and yes, she’s very tall indeed). This week, Betty unleashed her latest pop zinger, the deeply hooking Runaways, a track that seems to again ignite that Katy Perry comparison, but with some 80’s Cyndi Lauper-like lustrous buoyancy and plenty of neon, dreamy synths. Betty Who will be supporting Katy Perry on tour in Australia soon. Get ready for her inevitable rise to the top. It’s coming. Quote me on that.

Toronto’s Grandtheft has certainly made a name of himself with his high energy, bass heavy, exhilarating tracks. Now, he gives us an official remix of Katy Perry’s This Is How We Do to delight our ears and turn up our Monday night. It’s a more restrained trap take but oh so danceable and satisfying. The producer will be undoubtedly murdering his set at Summersalt in a couple weeks at Pier 70 in San Francisco. Hopefully, I’ll get to go watch the mayhem.
