Today, Katy B released her highly anticipated new album Honey, one that’s proven itself to be a sensational repertoire of star studded, envelope pushing, electronic rooted music from what we’ve heard so far. In a way, it makes perfect sense that Katy B would be the one to deliver us innovative new dance music, considering her early collaborations with UK dubstep and club pioneers. The latest track revealed off of Honey is a concerted effort alongside producers MssingNo and Geeneus. Water Rising is a fully arresting inundation of glistening sleek pop and sparkling effervescent electronica. The dramatic inferno and its weighty theatrics reveals a Banks like side to Katy B. New album Honey is available now via iTunes.

It’s been well established that Katy B’s upcoming album, Honey, is a star studded affair to be very much excited over. We’ve already heard collaborations with Four Tet, Floating Points, and Kaytranada off the album. Now, we get to hear the British chanteuse, whose early roots were in dubstep, go R&B soulful alongside Craig David and Major Lazer on Who Am I. Craig David, who may have made one of the biggest comebacks of the decade, is a fine addition to a Honey track with his honey smooth vocals. Major Lazer turns in restrained but luxuriantly beautiful production. And Katy B, alongside Craig David? Perfection. It seems the stars have aligned fortuitously for our listening pleasure. Honey drops April 29th. I think it’s safe to count it as one of the highly anticipated albums of spring. Head over to iTunes to snag the tracks revealed off Honey so far.

If last month’s incredible star studded collaboration between Katy B, Four Tet, and Floating Points was any indication of what was to come, then it should be no surprise that the latest track revealed off Katy B’s upcoming album Honey is a collaboration with Kaytranada. On the title track of the album, Katy B sensually croons over the sort of swanky dusk electro production we adore about Kaytranada. Honey is a slow burning electro R&B scorcher, a sticky yet sleek jam that coils, gyrates, and snakes sultrily. Katy B’s highly anticipated Honey album drops April 29th. She’s gone a long way from her early dubstep days.

It was near impossible to “calm down” the moment I first saw this one floating about. Katy B, Four Tet, and Floating Points all together on one song? Calm is the farthest thing from my mind at such a fabulous surprise! Manchester’s Floating Points and London’s Four Tet combine forces for an urgent and driving soundscape full of dark garage beats and apprehensive strings while Katy B’s signature sultry R&B vocals glides effortlessly through Calm Down’s fidgeting atmosphere. Calm Down is the epitome of a music oxymoron, an antithesis of sound versus lexicon. The song is the first taste from Katy B’s new project, Honey, on which she’ll team up with even more producers and artists. More details will be forthcoming in 2016.

Naderi’s remix of trap wizards Keys N Krates’ Katy B featuring Save Me opens with near operatic and regal majesty, carrying a sweeping mystique that breaks open into gut wrenching, heart pounding percussion. The producer from Sydney has crafted an epic anthem, due for release October 2nd on Dim Mak as part of the Save Me Remixes EP. This is a theatrical, expansive future bass and trap interpretation of Keys N Krates’ filthier beats that combines perfectly with Katy B’s siren like voice.

Starting the busy day off late with this immense and passionate cover of One Direction’s hit song Story Of My Life by British songstress Katy B. It’s a beautiful, moving take accompanied by delicate piano that takes my breath away. She performed the cover for UK radio show In:Demand. OFFICIAL VID: Katy B – Crying For No Reason

December 27, 2013

London songstress Katy B dropped a video today for her ballad Crying For No Reason, a heartfelt, soaring track filled with heart tugging melody and her soulful, power vocals. It’s one of the most straightforward pop tracks by the artist who had her magnificent start in dubstep and electronic music. Crying For No Reason has a very late 80’s/early 90’s power pop feel. It’s off her upcoming album Little Red, out on February 3.

Another fantastic fresh duo on my radar is London electronic team Route 94. I was listening to their soundcloud this morning and my feet inadvertently started to swing and dance underneath my desk like mad. Every track I clicked on kept me going. Check out their remix of UK star Katy B’s 5 AM above. And keep the dance party going with some more awesome house and nu-disco tunes below, including their original UK house track My Love featuring Jess Glynne, who also graced Clean Bandit’s recent single Rather Be (which I absolutely adore).
