We called Jackson Penn a fascinating mystery when the project made its debut late last year with Streelights On Mars, a saccharine melting pop ballad brimming with heartfelt emotion. It’s taken almost half a year for Jackson Penn to bless us with a second song, but here he is, melting our hearts anew with his second song Babylon. And we now know that he’s an LA-based, Manhattan-born singer songwriter and storyteller whose real name is Freddy Wexler, an expert songcrafter who’s co-written songs for Selena Gomez, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Wyclef Jean, Demi Lovato, Martin Garrix, Steve Aoki, and more. New single Babylon is a soulful, atmospheric piano ballad whose tender moments remind me of Bruno Major, but its sentimentally stirring, rich swelling choruses also evoke BANNERS and SYML. Of the song, Jackson Penn states:

“Bob Marley said that Babylon is everywhere. To me, Babylon is anywhere she is and I can’t be."  Re-visit debut single Streetlights On Mars via our feature, here.

Jackson Penn is quite the mystery. Aside from Streetlights on Mars, his Soundcloud account is barren of any other tidbits about the artist, much less links to any socials. All we know about the guy is that fact that he’s a dashing crooner. Streetlights on Mars, which we assume is his debut single, is a saccharine melting, bittersweet affecting pop ballad swimming in heartfelt emotion. Tender vocals, gentle guitar strums, and bright eyed synth flares imbue us with wonder and much affection for this fine introduction to the enigmatic talent.
