I had a much satisfying week of live music last week. I was fortunate enough to finally catch Kevin Garrett live when he opened up for Alessia Cara at the Fillmore in San Francisco, and I’m still glowing from those superb sets. I’d been waiting so long to see both of them, and I was far from disappointed. The fast rising New York artist revealed a spectacular haunting cover soon afterwards, an inky black rendition of Jack Ü and Justin Bieber’s Where Are Ü Now. Kevin’s minimalist electronica and dark R&B cover is gripping from the start, its subtle swells and throbbing beats taking a gentle yet firm hold on my pulse, rendering it impossible to rip myself away from the magnificent track. This is a soulful, anguished cover full of urgent longing, its ghostly production reminiscent of James Blake’s masterful pieces.

Chicago’s Flosstradamus took it upon themselves to mash up Jack Ü’s Where R Ü Now with Post Malone’s Iverson. To have all three of those acts and those two epic tunes conjoin for just over four minutes is a spectacular event. Where R Ü Iverson is Flosstradamus’ free gift to us to celebrate earlier this week’s Cyber Monday. Who needs to sit there clicking on sales and spending dough when you can lose yourself in this mashup? The instrumental arrangement from Jack Ü’s massive hit are a perfect fit for the vocals from Post Malone’s ubiquitous hip hop jam. If only someone would make as monstrous a jam about Stephen Curry. It’s happening, somewhere, right now, just wait and see. Download Flosstradamus’ fierce track for free, here.

When LA’s Oliver is on deck, you know that it’s going to be a funky, slamming good time. Sure enough, the duo’s new remix of Skrillex and Diplo’s AlunaGeorge featuring hit, To Ü, is a swanky swath of French house extravagance. The playfulness of the synths and beats are a fine fit for AlunaGeorge’s sassy vocals. The remix is one of four hot jams on a To Ü remix package available now on iTunes.

That’s right, kids, we’re not done yet with the Where Are Ü Now (Ember Island version) remixes yet, not by a mile. The cover of the hit by Jack Ü, or Skrillex and Diplo, has already spawned so many edits over the past months. Joining the ranks of the best is this remix by a producer from Berkeley named Minnesota that premiered on Skrillex’s NEST HQ. Minnesota capitalizes on the more feathery vibes given off in the Ember Island cover, magnifying the ambient atmosphere on the track and giving the song a wondrously chiming, cooly refreshing remix. It’s wonderfully ethereal and beautifully fantastical, an other worldly track levitating with a wistful beauty.

Whenever I see the name Chet Porter, I’m reminded of my very first encounter with his music and his blurb on Soundcloud, where he wrote “not chet faker & porter robinson’s side project”. This much is apparent, as he follows up his incredible Porter Robinson flip from three months ago with a magically chiming and spritely remix of the Ember Island version of Jack Ü’s Where Are Ü Now. Sure, there have been plentiful remixes of this tune, both of its original Justin format and this Ember Island soother, but there’s no denying that Chet Porter’s feathery edit is one of the most beautiful ones yet. This one leaves me quietly sighing in the corner, missing someone, though I don’t even know whom. The feels are strong on this one, kids.

The latest killer remix of Jack Ü’s Justin Bieber featuring Where Are Ü Now, which seem to arise without end, comes from much respected and admired Scottish producer Rustie. As expected, Rustie’s face melting expertise comes out full swing on the frenetic, skittish remix. It fidgets and bounces, then snaps and crackles, in the most dizzying, lively way possible. Rustie’s remix is simply spectacular.

Remixes of Ember Island’s cover of Jack Ü’s Where Are Ü Now are rolling in quickly, and I’m quite sure we can credit that partially to how gorgeous Ember Island’s vocals are on their version of the tune. While I shared a beautifully atmospheric remix of the song last week, by Papermind, today I bring you a bubbly, effervescent one courtesy of Texas based producer AYO ALEX. He gives the song a sugary future bass coating that’s thoroughly enchanting when chill, yet so thrilling when he picks up the tempo and ramps up the energy. Grab the tune for free off Soundcloud.

A remix of Jack Ü’s Where Are Ü Now featuring Ember Island dropped in my lap earlier today, and it’s so beautiful that I nearly cried. Who’s responsible for this atmospheric, cinematic remix? A mysterious new duo named Papermind, who choose not to reveal very much about themselves for now. None of that matters, since Papermind’s soothing, melodic remix speaks mountains beyond mountains in itself. And oceans beyond oceans. And galaxies beyond galaxies. Full of longing and wistfulness, the entrancing beauty reminds us of how encompassing, and far reaching, our heart’s emotions can be. There are no boundaries. Alright Paperminds, you’ve impressed us, and touched our souls. What’s next?

So I have a good buddy to thank for bringing this one to light. Get ready to have your mind blown. And before you hit play on the stream above, I highly recommend you watch the live mashup video below instead. Shawn Wasabi is a talented producer. A very talented producer. Hailing from Salinas, he’s swept onto my radar with an incredible, ridiculous, ludicrous mashup. Do you remember Madeon’s Pop Culture? Multiply that ten fold and then swap out those dance tracks with some of today’s most beloved, envelope pushing electronic offerings, and you’ll have Marble Soda. Marble Soda is a bubbly, caffeinated, chiptuned, spirited mix of a jaw dropping amount (153!) of quality songs I love dearly. It’s an exuberant burst of color. Check the list below by hitting the read more button, or head over to to gape at the sheer list of songs represented on Shawn’s mashup. One of my favorite moments on the mashup is the Porter bridge, and it’s endless fun pinpointing all the bits and pieces of songs utilized.

It might be comically uneducated, but when I think of Tasmania, I think of Looney Tunes and the Tasmanian Devil. Yes, quite silly of me, I think. But that’s not all I think of nowadays. The name Akouo also immediately comes to mind, as the producer’s music has thrilled me so many times past and present. And now, he’s done it agian, with a future bass, hip hop, and wavy remix of Jack Ü’s To Ü, featuring AlunaGeorge. It’s a chill yet lavish rework… restrained and simmering, yet full of flashy life.
