ISLAND has been a favorite indie rock band since the four piece made their debut with Stargazer. We jumped on the opportunity to pre-order their debut album Feels Like Air the moment we could, which was months ago. And now every so often we receive an email from the company we purchased the record from saying the album isn’t available yet. We really appreciate the good customer service, but we agree with their sentiment regarding being incredibly impatient for its arrival! Feels Like Air will be out on April 6th, and ISLAND recently revealed a new gem off the release named Ride. The band says the song embodies the whole theme of their debut album, “the idea of movement and journey was the cornerstone that brought the record together”. Ride really does move, a dreamy gliding, dusty rolling indie rock anthem that celebrates “freedom, adventure, and the power that comes with being young.” Though it’s pensive and melancholic, ragged and visceral, Ride is a dynamic and adroit beaut that courses with lifelike vivacity, driven by its 80s-influenced glistening riffs and its impassioned vocals. It takes us on a “ride” of a lifetime that feels familiar to the heart. ISLAND will be touring the UK and Europe after the release of their debut album. Hopefully, they’ll make plans to visit us across the pond once those dates are over, too. Stream Ride via alternate platforms, here.

ISLAND’s debut album isn’t set to arrive until next spring, but I’ve been so excited about it since its announcement that I’ve already pre-ordered a physical copy of Feels Like Air from overseas. That’s how much this London quartet has charmed me these past two years. I’ve had them in my heart since their debut with Stargazer. Today, they’ve unveiled yet another fine tune from their coming record. The band waxes intensely heartsick on gravelly The Day I Die, a dusty raw, heartfelt wrenching indie rock song with atmospheric guitar rhythms.

Speaking about the track, the band says, “It often seems in our increasingly digital world people have forgotten how to live. The song is about finding the power to escape the mundane.” Debut album Feels Like Air arrives April 6th. Pre-order, here. I know it’s like, half a year before it comes out, but hey, never too early to purchase something you really want, right?

I can’t believe its been more than two long years since ISLAND first won our hearts over in an instant with debut single Stargazer. Has it really been this long? Despite how fast that time flew by, I find myself wondering how excruciating the next few months are going to be, while we wait impatiently for ISLAND’s debut album, Feels Like Air. The London quartet will be releasing the record on April 6th, and it will be a pleasantly sublime breath of idyllic coastal blues and dreamy indie rock to take us into spring. For now, let’s watch the music video for the band’s latest single, hypnotic lulling, warm gauzy Try.  The clip, directed by Axel Danielson and Maximilien Van Aertryck, was inspired by the film Ten Meter Tower. Speaking about the song, frontman Rollo Doherty noted: “‘Try’ is a reminder of the fragility of love, and the effort it takes to hold together something that was once easy” The UK’s Wonderland call the track “stunning” and further declare it’s “an exciting glimpse into one of the most exciting bands at the moment, prepare to fall slightly in love with all of them after hearing this.” Keep up with ISLAND on their website, here. I’ll be on the lookout for a pre-order link for their debut album. I’m hoping we’ll get a physical release here in the U.S.

London bred Los Angeles resident Taliwhoah is an artist with a very diverse and fascinating background. She was born into a big artistic family to a British born, Nigerian-Lebanese mom and a Jamaican dad. And both her mom and her auntie were in influential band Boney M. It’s no wonder Taliwhoah is such a refined R&B pop artist whose sound brings together all sorts of influences and elements. I find myself utterly entranced by the supple beauty and rich depth of new single Details, with emits the brisk dancehall breeziness of Afro-Caribbean soul and sashays with much swaggering electro R&B aplomb. Details is NAO and Jessie Ware, Jorja Smith and SZA, all in one. Details is out now on Rostrum Records, grab it from major outlets, here.

London four piece ISLAND is one of those bands I can never get enough of. Given the chance, I’d love to take them with me on a camping trip with my closest friends, so we could listen to them all night long besides a warm campfire while the milky way stretches out above us. Earlier this year, ISLAND released their gorgeous EP A Place You Like. Opening track Waves proved itself to be one of my favorites from the band, only topped off by debut single Stargazer. ISLAND has released a live acoustic recording of the raw soothing coastal blues cut as part of a new EP, and this stripped down, bare bones performance is just as entrancing if not even more powerful. It’s a stark reminder that I’ve yet to see ISLAND live, and I really hope I’ll get to do so someday soon. The band’s EP, A Place You Like, is available from iTunes, here. Their new Lie & Acoustic EP can be found, here.
