Matt Berninger (The National) – I’ll See You In My Dreams (cover)

August 22, 2013

Oh boy, this is absolutely delightful. Boardwalk Empire is one of my favorite cable television series in HBO. I can’t wait for the next season to begin soon. One of the super cool things about the show is that they sign up some pretty awesome artists to cover classic standards for the show soundtrack. Matt Berninger (of The National) did this immense cover of 1925 song I’ll See You In My Dreams by Isham Jones and the Ray Miller Orchestra. In Berninger’s version, he’s backed by Vince Giordano And The Nighthawks. The wonderful rendition is perfect. Matt Berninger’s vocals fit the song brilliantly. The song is on the Boardwalk Empire Volume 2 compilation.

ZOMG. The National. And Boardwalk Empire. Combined. I just died. I love that show. It’s one of the most well made, intelligent shows on television right now. And The National recorded a cover of an old 1920’s song titled I’ll See You In My Dreams for the show. WHAT? WHAT WHAT? YES! Reblogging the deets below.

NEW SONG
The National | I’ll See You In My Dreams (Cover) | Boardwalk Empire

The HBO series, Boardwalk Empire, has been delivering popular songs from the 1920’s covered by modern artists for almost 3 seasons.

The long list includes the likes of Regina Spektor and St. Vincent. And now, The National has contributed their talents!

The song plays during the end credits of Season 3, Episode 10, titled “A Man, a Plan…”.

“I’ll See You In My Dreams” was written by Isham Jones, with lyrics by Gus Kahn. It was originally released in 1924 and recorded by Isham Jones and The Ray Miller Orchestra. (Wikipedia)
