New Iron and Wine

January 31, 2013

This has got some awesome swag and it’s brilliant as F. Iron & Wine, aka Samuel Beam, has been in the scene for years, creating amazing folk rock music. This spring, he’ll be releasing yet another full length album. It’ll be titled Ghost On Ghost. Lovers’ Revolution is the lead single off the album. If it’s any sign of what the rest of the album will sound like, Iron & Wine seems to be focusing on a much jazzier sound. It’s an incredibly complex, layered track filled with endless amazing strings, horns and piano. I can’t begin to describe what a work of art it is. Wow. I want to hear this live.

Covers covers covers! GOOD ones too!

There’s a ton of covers floating around the machine today, so I’ll combine ‘em into this one super entry!

Iron and Wine covered George Michael’s One More Try, and it’s breathtaking. It’s been so long since I’ve listened to the original good, old classic. I forgot how much I love this song. Sigh. This is sweeping me off my feet. I melt.

Oberhofer covered Kanye West’s Runaway! This is way too awesome and sounds surprisingly, dreamily good.

And here’s something that sounds super mega oldie classic! Australia’s psych rockers Pond covered Smokey Robinsons’ Tears Of A Clown. It’s like The Flaming Lips went back in time to the 60’s for some Motown!
