I can’t believe it’s been a few years since we last partook in some Caged Animals together on IHM. The Brooklyn based indie pop band make a beautiful return on new single Wildflowers, a song which The New Yorker aptly describes as a “hip-hop influenced Velvet Underground”. Wildflowers is weightless charming and melodic divine. On top of the aforementioned sounds, the song also carries a hint of whimsical Modern Mouse but with a brassy richness and a melting sincerity. Wildflowers slow builds upon itself, culminating as a heart warming dazzler.  A new Caged Animals full length is expected to arrive in early 2017, featuring guest appearances from Neutral Milk Hotel’s Julian Koster and avant-alto-saxophonist Chris Aiello. Purchase Wildflowers from Bandcamp.
