Clean Cut Kid is high on my list of SXSW must sees. After all, if I don’t catch them in Austin, I don’t know when I might get another opportunity to see the Liverpool fan whom I’ve been crazy about for over nine long months now, ever since I heard debut single Vitamin C. It comes as no surprise that the band just sold out their UK tour and have been named as Ones to Watch by Google and Apple. I’ve called them exactly that since day one. Today, the band has revealed the B-side for their new single Pick Me Up, a weathered cinematic gem named In Your Eyes.  The shaggy, rustic song ropes me right in with its Bob Dylan and The War On Drugs like appeal. In Your Eyes and Pick Me Up will be released on 7″ as an exclusive for this year’s Record Store Day. Everyone, please look out for one of these beauties for me, thanks.

OFFICIAL VID: Kate Boy – In Your Eyes

I quickly became very fond of Swedish electropop/Australian synthpop act Kate Boy when I first stumbled upon them late last year. I shared the audio for their single In Your Eyes immediately with y’all. Now, the lovely In Your Eyes has an artistic, black and white, understated, subtle video to accompany it. There’s a great 80’s Phil Collins-esque flavor to some this track that I love a lot. It’s also so signature Scandinavian, a la The Knife, Niki & The Dove, etc.

I shared their single Northern Lights last time around, which is the title track an recent EP along with In Your Eyes. Here it is again. They seem to be sticking with the same general ideas and style for their music videos.

So, what do you get when you mix Swedish electropop with some of that Australian synthpop? Kate Boy, perhaps? The new act recently signed to IAMSOUND and have an EP titled Northern Lights in the works for early next year. The members are from Sweden and Australia, and their song In Your Eyes certainly has qualities that sound like they’re from both locales. There’s obvious dark, Scandinavian vocals and exotic, catchy, poppy beats. It’s a sound that I always find myself drawn to.

Here’s the first song they had previewed off their coming EP, the title track Northern Lights. I think I may have to check out the rest of that EP in January!
