Last month, chameleon production virtuoso TOKiMONSTA shared the music video for her song with Selah Sue, I Wish I Could, not too long after we learned about her battle with medical challenges after being diagnosed with a rare ailment named Moyamoya. We’ve long known how immensely talented the Los Angeles based artist is, even contributing to crowdfunding for her first music video back in the day. Jennifer Lee never fails to defy our expectations with her sonic concoctions and the spectrum of sound she gives us on her variegated releases. I Wish I Could, a smooth and seductive, polished and elegant electro R&B and hip hop chimera has now received a remix treatment from another favorite of ours, alt dance pioneers SOFI TUKKER! The Grammy-nominated pair give the soulful track a fresh influx of dance energy on their brisk bounding, bass rippling remix. There’s no way you can ever listen to anything involving SOFI TUKKER and not want to get up and dance. The edit is a part of TOKiMONSTA’s new talent studded Lune Rouge Remixed record, which can be streamed/downloaded, here. In related news, SOFI TUKKER has also dropped a fresh new track, and as always, they’ve dealt us some incendiary bass and feisty sass on Batshit, which you can stream below. You could say we’re batshit for SOFI TUKKER. After all, we’ve already pre-ordered the duo’s debut album, Treehouse, and you can do so too, here. It arrives on April 13th, which is next week! YES!

It blows my mind that we’ve been devout fans of TOKiMONSTA for so long (even contributing to the crowd-sourcing campaign for her very first music video), yet knew nothing about the medical challenges the producer from LA was facing quite recently. Los Angeles based producer Jennifer Lee was diagnosed with a rare ailment named Moyamoya, and her struggles lead to several brain surgeries that resulted in a loss in ability to comprehend and write music, too. Yet, she fought through it all and released a sensational new album named Lune Rouge, which we had the pleasure of catching her on tour for when she visited San Francisco. I mean, I can’t even wrap my own brain around what she’s been through, and to be able to create the brilliant music she still does is just astounding. TOKiMONSTA reunites with director Mitchell deQuilettes for her new music video, one much inspired by her own personal experiences with trauma and the healthcare system. The clip was made for her single I Wish I Could, a smooth stuttering, slick prancing electronica, R&B, and hip hop chimera that features torrid smoldering, sexy enthralling vocals by Belgium chanteuse Selah Sue. If you missed out on TOKiMONSTA’s brilliant album Lune Rouge last year, you need to get on it, here.
