Over a year ago, droves of fans, including myself, were gutted when Manchester’s WU LYF announced that they were broken up. Fortunately, its brilliant members have gone on to form many different projects in the course of the past year, including LUH, a synthwavey outfit formed by Ebony Hoorn and former frontman Ellery Roberts. After appearing on the scene with two passionate cuts, they disappeared again until now. They resurface with a slow burning, gradually building cinematic number named I & I. Ellery Roberts’ gruff vocals are a welcome, familiar comfort to my ears, his expressive bellowing near heartbreaking when paired with the vast beauty of the orchestral song itself.
