Legendary band Gorillaz was a highlight of my Outside Lands Music Festival experience last month. Though they headlined the first of three days, I’m not sure any other set I caught measured up to their sprawling set, replete with unexpected guest cameos. Of course, Damon Albarn and the rest of the crew performed plenty of songs off recent album Humanz. Today, we dance into the deep of the night to a mesmeric remix of Humanz cut Busted and Blue by esteemed Finish producer Yotto. An imposing tidal wave of deep glorious house and atmospheric techno greets our ears as we venture into the depths of this visceral remix. Yotto takes us to a state of nirvana with his hypnotic remix, which can be streamed and downloaded, here.

Oh, hey, more fresh Gorillaz music after we just received that long awaited album HUMANZ? We must have done something really right! According to Damon Albarn, the band had more than forty tracks that were left on the cutting room floor when they put HUMANZ together. Sleeping Powder was one of those tracks, and I’m seriously digging it. It’s a murky grooving jam and a surreal trip that comes with an equally heady animated video which starts off with that famous 80′s “this is your brains on drugs” ad that always made me crave a fried egg. I’m pretty sure that’s not what they meant to do with the ad, but the message came through anyway. Who needs them when we have Sleeping Powder and a cool new visualizer starring 2-D?
