HOOPS just dropped a fitting visual accompaniment for the band’s single Sun’s Out, which comes off of last month’s debut album Routines, out via Fat Possum Records. The music video’s vintage bleariness is a perfect fit for the Indiana quartet’s lo-fi gauzy surf rock and sun kissed dream pop. Sun’s Out is like a psychedelic shoegaze brew in which Wild Nothing, DIIV, Day Wave, and Real Estate swirl around one another in woozy nostalgic bliss. Various bundles for HOOPS’ debut album are available from Bandcamp, here, though it seems some of the limited items are already sold out.

Through hoops I will jump endlessly if I get to listen to Indiana’s Hoops for my eager efforts. The last we heard from these guys, they’d signed to Fat Possum and dropped an excellent self titled debut EP. Fast forward to 2017 and the quartet has now announced a debut full length, too! Routines will arrive in May, and lead single Rules is more of the band’s ever hooking lo-fi surf rock and dreamy UMO like psych soul. The gauzy euphoric jam is a tipsy daydream I don’t want to break myself out of. Pre-order Hoops self titled debut album ahead of its May 5th release date, here. Hoops will be touring expansively from the US to the UK and back starting in this Saturday, February 18th. They’ll be stopping right here in San Francisco as part of the Noise Pop Music Festival on the 25th. Ticket and tour details can be found, here.

HOOPS recently announced their debut self titled EP and today, they’ve revealed a new track from the self recorded, produced, and mixed record. The Indiana four piece continue to take us to great heights of woozy euphoria with Gemini, a dreamy soulful, lo-fi hazy mixture of chillwave and guitar pop. Gemini is the soundtrack for a lazy summer afternoon, a fuzzy Unknown Mortal Orchestra meets jangling Real Estate sort of indie confection. Pre-order HOOPS’ EP from Fat Possum or iTunes ahead of its August 26th release date. It’s sure to be an appropriate treat as the dog days of summer approach.

Indiana four piece Hoops, who recently signed to esteemed label Fat Possum, will be releasing their self titled debut EP on August 26th. Off that record comes shimmering Cool 2, a lo-fi indie jam that seems to marry the psychedelic soulfulness of Unknown Mortal Orchestra with the dreamy beach rock and surf pop of acts like Real Estate or Day Wave. Cool 2 is truly “cool” and mellow, a languorous yet upbeat radiant two minutes of bliss. It ends far too soon not to go back for seconds and thirds right away. Pre-order Hoops’ debut EP from iTunes.

East London’s JONES dropped an astonishing, soulful electronic pop beauty a several months ago named Hoops, a taste off the rising chanteuse’s debut album, New Skin, due for release this spring. Hoops takes on a haunting, skeletal beauty on a remix by Brooklyn’s WET, who drape the song in murky minimalism permeated by skittering drums and jittery vocal chops. WET’s remix leaves me with goosebumps and tingles that remain long after the track ends.

When I see the word “hoops”, my first thought is basketball, but obviously, that’s not what JONES is going for on her compelling new song Hoops. The soulful East Londoner has been impressing us with her crisp, crystalline voice and moving music since a year ago, and she delivers once again on the new soulful electropop song. Hoops is taken from debut album New Skin, due for release in Spring 2016 via 37 Adventures. The beautiful production on Hoops was turned in by XO and Josh Record. Hoops is a commanding torrent of contagious grandeur and power. The single is available now on iTunes.
