To be honest, we never want to let go of Nightly, so it’s quite appropriate that their new song is named Holding On. The Nashville alt pop cousins made a huge return last month on Miss You Like Hell, and now they’ve followed it up with this heartfelt anthem, a misty swathe of romantic 80s synthpop and lovesick sentimentality. Nightly recently wrapped up a sold-out run of tour dates supporting NF in the states, and they’ll re-unite with The Struts in Los Angeles at the Roxy on May 31st. Holding On can be found on iTunes, here.

Let’s make our way back to Sweden as a 21 year old avant-garde pop artist named Thea Gustafsson casts an eclectic spell on us as Becky And The Birds on Holding On, a dynamic shape-shifter of an electronica and pop hybrid. Holding On starts out as a minimalist twinkler, a surreal daydream filled with wonder and beauty, before it suddenly capers skywards and bursts into a breathtaking and opulent prism. We hold on for dear life, infused with life, as we take flight with Becky And The Birds, before she quiets our restless hearts with her lullaby once again. It’s hard to believe Holding On is only this singer songwriter and producer’s first single, and we can’t wait to hear what the rest of her forthcomign debut EP sounds like.

To be honest, describing Yellow Days music hasn’t come easy. The unique 18 year old wunderkind continues to defy convention and classification with his psychedelic vintage pop and lo-fi soul on new single Holding On. He builds ever so strongly towards the release of his upcoming full length project ‘Is Everything Okay In Your World?’ with yet another forlorn crackling, shabby warped experimental track on which George van den Broeck’s vocals are on showstopping display. This is the sort of music that could haunt you forever. Time doesn’t seem to exist when you listen to Yellow Days. It could be decades prior right now, or years ahead in the future. I feel as if I’m listening to him through an old phonograph sometimes. A movie reel of broken hearted memories play through my mind as I suddenly feel faded and old beyond my years. Yet this anguish is so sublime… it’s as if Yellow Days knows all of the struggles and loss that our hearts have gone through. And all we want to do is “hold on” to that feeling of sad comfort. Yellow Days explains of Holding On:

‘The track is about living your life in a manner that you’re always holding on, finding day to day life hard. It’s about modern depression’. ‘Is Everything Okay In The World?’ will be out on October 27th via Good Years.

Holding On is the second single Australian producer Kendl has shared off his forthcoming Colours EP, but it’s also a striking first encounter for us with this talented artist. I can’t help but be drawn to Holding On’s shadowy trip hop and dusky electronica, which heavily reminds me of bands like Alpines, London Grammar, and HÆLOS, but with the beautifully expansive ambiance of Bonobo, Tycho, and Jon Hopkins. NYC by way of Texas singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tiger Darrow also turns in a splendid performance with her breathy immaculate vocals. Kendl explains: “I wrote ‘Holding On’ last year while I was working overseas on a small remote island. Being away from home, out of my comfort zone and in a completely different space inspired this track. It was great to be able to work with Tiger Darrow on this. She’s a very talented singer & songwriter which made the collaboration effortless.” You can download Holding On from iTunes, here.

Swiss born singer songwriter and producer HUGOwho achieved instant success in 2014 with his debut EP, I Am Not Hugo, after which he embarked on a three year journey searching for new inspiration, personal discovery, and self-reflection. He now makes a potent comeback with Holding On, an intricately entrancing combination of wonky soulful pop and wavey chiming electronica capped with sleek sonorous vocals. Holding On is lifted from HUGOwho’s upcoming EP, Another. You can watch the video for the song below. He states: “My music should be an honest experience in sound and emotion, simple, without hiding behind anything. I really just got crazy with my vision and my emotions. My life changed a lot since I moved to London because all of the sudden I was alone, disconnected, but it made me feel and think a lot about myself and my music. It’s not about playing some crazy chords and be like super fancy about it. I want my music to be simple and powerful. in order that as many people can relate to the feeling. ’Holding On’ is a track about loving someone too hard while realizing to let go of everything in order to grow individually and together.“

Ghost Loft, that stirring producer from Los Angeles, steps back out of the shadows after many months of silence with a deeply affecting piece named Holding On. He explains that Holding On is about “keeping strong through thick and thin” and that he wanted to “capture the great love that keeps people together amidst turmoil.” The soulful electronic and R&B pop piece feels resolute and steady with its reverberant atmosphere and Ghost Loft’s sonorous vocals. Holding On is a comfortingly resounding hymnal, and it can also be streamed via Spotify, here.

It’s a bright and infectious form of UK pop that reels us in on Holding On, a new treat from a band named VICTORS. Victorious they certainly are with this lustrous hooking, warm glowing gem. Holding On is doused in 80′s synthpop reminiscent of early The 1975 and fellow indie talent KYKO. If you’re not yet convinced you’ve fallen for VICTORS, dive into prior song Stay With Me below, and prepare to dance to its luscious springing pop. An alternate Soundcloud stream for Holding On can also be found below. Stay With Me is one of four tracks from VICTORS’ late 2016 EP, Wish You Were Here. Holding On is available now from iTunes.

Everyone’s favorite UK electronic duo, Disclosure, revealed another wicked new track today. Holding On is a smoother, crisper garage jam compared to prior dirty rager Bang That. In fact, it features the buttery vocals of American jazz, blues, and soul musician Gregory Porter. Stream a sample of the tune above, but if you want the full experience, stream the full track via the YouTube audio below. For those Disclosure fans who were taken by surprise by Bang That’s primal, raucous energy, this one will settle that slick Latch and silken Sam Smith craving. Holding On will be out as a single July 17th, and I’m sure it will be on Disclosure’s eagerly awaited sophomore album, too.

Julio Bashmore goes swanky retro disco on his new track Holding On, featuring honeyed vocals by Sam Dew. The UK based producer uses a repetitive loop on the resplendent track that’s incredibly addictive and hypnotic. I have a sudden urge to throw on some bell bottoms, put on some star shaped shades, and start disco twirling my way around town.

The moment I heard new Secret Company yesterday, I knew it was a must share, but I had to wait until today to share the track with you. That was a bit painful. The London based band is releasing a debut EP via SO Records in June, and Holding On is the heart rending alt pop song they’ve just revealed off of that record. Holding On is a stirring blend of indie rock and electronic production. There’s an incredibly expansive atmosphere on the track, and a bold sound that builds into catharsis.
