Lissy Trullie, aka NYC singer songwriter and former model Elizabeth McChesney, is no newcomer to the music scene, having released a Dave Sitek and John Hill produced album in 2012 as well as an EP in 2009. But she hasn’t given us anything new since. How do you break such a long silence? By releasing an immensely witty and whimsically hooking song like Here, that’s how! The squishy jabbing, guitar frolicking anthem is just the sort of edgy and imaginative pop rock anthem we love, and we can’t wait to hear what else Lissy Trullie has up her sleeves. Here is also available via alternate platforms, here.

It’s been nearly a year since SXSW, when I had the pleasure of catching Christine and the Queens’ first ever American set in Austin. I’d been utterly enchanted by the French pop star prior to the debut and she was magnificent on stage. In the interim between then and now, Christine has released her English language debut album and added countless numbers to her already massive fan base. Today, she revealed the music video for her song Here, featuring French rapper Booba. It’s a simple video, as riveting as the sparsely stomping beats and orchestral flourishes of the passionate song. Here’s to hoping I get to see Christine and the Queens live again soon.

Norwegian producer Lido has, as expected, become a much respected and loved force to be reckoned with in the past couple of years. I’m always on the lookout for new Lido, particularly since he’s preparing to drop an album, and surprise of all surprises, he’s unleashed an unexpected treat on us! Stating that he “caught the blues today” and that this is the last thing before his album drops, Lido regales us with a phenomenal cover of Alessia Cara’s Here, titled “Here (Thoughts From A Tour Bus)“! It’s a mighty fine cover that balances between the original’s spunk and Lido’s future bass production style. The end result is intense, yet swooning, on fire yet sprinkled with cool piano swagger.

18 year old talent Alessia Cara may very likely end up with this year’s most meteoric rise in the new music scene. She wowed us all around when she released her debut soul and R&B pop song Here just a couple months ago, and now she’s even captured Princess Taylor Swift’s attention with one of the best Bad Blood covers to have surfaced so far. Her stunning vocals on Here lend themselves fittingly to an official remix by New York’s rising producer Lucian. The ever busy producer’s massive future bass edit gives Here a dramatic intensity full of booming bass and blaring synths. Grandeur is an understatement when faced with the magnificence of this rhapsodic remix. Life itself seems more monumental, soundtracked by Lucian and Alessia’s phenomenal voice.

Fast rising Def Jam star ALESSIA is sure to become a household name this summer. Debut single Here is such a spectacular R&B and soul song, it’s already picked up some crazy steam since its big reveal. Talented New York based producer Mickey Valen, who’s given us both amazing remixes and produced many of my other favorite new artists’ songs, turns in a riveting new remix of Here that will grip your full attention with its many subtle twists and turns. While it seems to retain the original’s smoothly soulful vibes, it eventually launches into shimmering, compelling future bass swells and oscillations. There’s a grittiness to Mickey Valen’s remix that gives the song a darker edge. Perhaps if Alessia and Hudson Mohawke were to collaborate, we’d hear something similarly thrilling.

If you haven’t yet heard of ALESSIA, you’re going to be part of a diminishing minority in the music appreciation world. It’s okay, I’m here to help you out with this shar of her Def Jam debut single, Here. The 18 year old talent samples Isaac Hayes on the snappy, soulful song. Mary J Blige meets Lauryn Hill with a hefty dosage of Alicia Keys on the fiery, bold song.

OFFICIAL VID: Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes – Child

October 10, 2012

What a late day surprise! Just as it seemed the machine seemed to be winding down for the afternoon, what comes across my radar? A fantastic brand new video from Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes! The video is the winner of a music video contest for the single. It seems to be more and more popular for bands to ask their fans to make top notch videos for competitions or series.

Child is the latest single off Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes’ acclaimed album Here. It’s a gorgeous, soft crooner of a folk rock tune. There’s something about the whole video and song package that reminds me of one of those touching, well made television commercials. You know, the ones that melt your heart by choosing just the right songs matched with nostalgia inducing human bonding. It’s certainly very well done. Congrats to the winner of the contest!
