There’s a whole lot to take away from our week at SXSW this year, and though we expected some of our must-catch artists to be incredible, some of them simply blew our minds with their ridiculously good sets and sensational talent. FINNEAS is one such artist. Though it was a bit out of the way, we made sure to run over to the Central Presbyterian Church on 8th street for his one set of the week, and it was truly worth the effort. Finneas O’Connell, a Los Angeles based actor/musician who’s also siblings with red hot star-on-the-rise Billie Eilish, belted out some incredibly emotional ballads during the acoustic set, stunning us with his powerful and heartfelt vocals. It was magical, to say the least. Later in the week, FINNEAS played guitar during his sister’s sets (he was instrumental in crafting her debut EP, after all), but we’ll never forget the sheer magnetism and moving beauty of his solo acoustic performance, which at times reminded me of my experience watching Damien Rice live in a church, too. You can feel an inkling of that magic in Heaven, FINNEAS’ haunting and affecting new release which premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show. Heaven was also instantly added to Spotify’s highly-coveted New Music Friday playlist. Damien Rice meets James Vincent McMorrow on the cathartic hymnal, possibly one of FINNEAS’ most gorgeous releases yet. Sister Billie may be conquering the world with her pop right now, but it’s obvious she’s going to have to share the crowning limelight with FINNEAS and his profoundly moving music.

Heaven is a place on earth where we can listen to Apollo LTD’s rousing music. The Nashville duo chose an appropriate name for their new song, which weds a soaring electronic soundscape with their organic vocals. The pair, who recently made waves with their song One In A Million, return with arena ready guitars and sweeping synths on Heaven, and it’s a more than magnificently moving, vociferous flying alt pop anthem. Stream/download Apollo LTD’s sonorous new single, here.

I’m still reeling from the news that just surfaced regarding how Johnny Jewel destroyed tens of thousands of CDs and vinyl after he had a near death experience a couple years ago. Those records were imprinted with that long awaited, highly anticipated new Chromatics album Dear Tommy, whose release date has been long delayed while the band has been apparently re-recording and perfecting the release. Though we’re still waiting for Dear Tommy, we get to enjoy some of Johnny Jewel’s production in HEAVEN’s It’s Not Enough. The song is this Italians Do It Better signed electronic band’s first single, and it comes with a mysterious video whose aesthetic goes perfectly the world’s fresh obsession with Twin Peaks and David Lynch. It’s Not Enough’s droopy darkwave and lavish synthcore is ghostly and foggy, gossamer and wispy… There’s no way this twisted 80′s heart can resist HEAVEN and their first taste from a debut EP.

Earlier this year, Vancouver’s Said The Whale delighted their droves of fans with a beautiful new single and the announcement of a new album to arrive on March 31st. It’s become clear that As Long As Your Eyes Are Wide is an album not to miss now that the band has previewed another treat from the record, a lush shimmering indie gem named Heaven. Said The Whale are heavenly indeed on this cottony ethereal, dreamy twirling synthpop and indie rock hybrid. As Long As Your Eyes Are Wide can be pre-ordered now from iTunes.

On October 28th, South London’s Alpines will be releasing their sophomore album Another River on Metropolis Recordings. Judging from its lead single Heaven, the record’s going to be a divine experience. Gospel inflected R&B and atmospheric pop wash over us as a cinematic soundscape engulfs us, leaving us quivering in the song’s wake. The smoothly polished song is grand. It towers above us, a spiritually lifting hymnal. Pre-order Alpines’ album Another River, here, prior to its October 28th release date.

Foreboding, dark, and poetic track called ‘North’ by LA based duo j.s. This song is a cry of pain, maybe someone who is on the edge of life and staring death in the eye, and desperately wants to be taken North. For the producer Jason, north is a very restorative place for him geographically. There are a lot of references to being taken north here. The dreams in one’s head, the moon, ‘take me home’ which could be a spiritual reference to heaven. What a dark poetic track.

Los Angeles’ KSHMR joins forces with Toronto’s Shaun Frank on a massive electronic anthem named, aptly, Heaven. Heaven features vocals by Delaney Jane, who seems to be keeping very busy with the amazing guest stints lately, having just graced us with her voice on Adventure Club’s Limitless a few days prior. Heaven is a divinely expansive and intensely stirring deep and future house track fit for an epic night of carefree, euphoric dancing. Heaven will be available on Spinnin’ come Ottober 19th.

T.O.L.D. quickly cemented himself as an artist to watch when I first heard his song Lucifer’s Eyes, which became one of my favorite new melting songs of the month. Today, the British artist shared his debut EP, Heaven, on The New York Times T Magazine, nearly a week ahead of its release on November 18. The three track EP includes previously shared songs Lucifer’s Eyes and In Low Light (feat. Ionna Gika), but it closes with a new one, Heaven. Like his other songs, Heaven is a soothing, beautiful synthpop song, gliding airily with that tropics and nostalgia tinged warmth we’ve fallen in love with on the other tracks. Let’s revisit Lucifer’s Eyes for the gazillionth time below, shall we? Sigh…

If you didn’t catch on to Australian trio New Navy and their dreamy indie pop when they released some fantastic tunes on Future Classic back in 2012, now’s your chance to get introduced. After a long silence, the band is back with a fantastic new song titled Heaven. They’ve also announced that they’re working on their debut full length album for later this year. Heaven, the first taste off the release, is such a soothing, blissful, calming gem. Visit their SoundCloud to check out some of the earlier tunes, which include some sweet covers and also stellar remixes by the likes of Flume, RUFUS, and Baio, acts I love very much.
