Atmospheric, dramatic synths surge through our ears and serenade our dark hearts on BK Woe, a fierce yet sensuous hip hop and R&B soul track dripping with desire from Harlem based Melii. Droopy, syrupy electronic production accompanies the 19 year old’s stunning voice. BK Woe is a barbed yet seductive ballad, raw yet refined, ghostly opaque yet burning with a fiery heat. Stream/purchase the song, here, and listen to more of Melii’s music on Soundcloud, here.

Indie alt pop and synthpop duo Cathedrals is certainly one of the shining local darlings here in San Francisco lately, having made such huge waves with their first singles Unbound and Harlem. Today, I congratulate them on signing to MS MR’s label Neon Gold, which is very cool news, indeed, but not surprising, to say the least. Cathedrals also released a third stellar track, Want My Love, which is filled with brooding moodiness and more of Brodie Jenkins absolutely bewitching vocals. The lushly layered song is full of soul and emotion, like their other songs so far. If you dig BROODS, flavored with extra Lorde like moodiness, plus some MS MR dark pop vibes, you’ll probably love Cathedrals. If you missed their first singles, you’re missing out. Hurry up and stream Unbound and Harlem, below! Cathedrals is working on a debut EP to release within the next several months.
