I’m sure many of you, like me, have been a fan of AFI for decades. Just hearing Davey Havok’s voice always seems somehow comforting to me. I can’t say I was always an AFI head, but I certainly obsessed over them, a lot, particularly in the 2000′s. News of a fresh AFI album is always a delight, especially since it’s been a few years since Burials. AFI (The Blood Album) arrives soon on January 20th. In the meantime, AFI has unveiled a rather galactic music video for their blustery single Snow Cats, one that Davey Havok explains animates “a cyclical struggle with the surreal colors of applied persona and identity”. You can pre-order AFI (The Blood Album) from various services, here.

Creating some mad buzz right now is super cool Brooklyn indie hardcore band Cerebral Ballzy, who signed recently to Julian Casablanca’s awesome label Cult Records. The wittily named band is releasing a sophomore album titled Jaded and Faded with Cult Records sometime in 2014. Watch their new video for the rocking Better In Leather below, which is comprised of grainy live footage from shows they did in the UK. They certainly know how to embody the spirit of hardcore punk.

OFFICIAL VID: Fucked Up – Inside A Frame

December 13, 2012

Toronto hardcore punk band Fucked Up have been rather silent for awhile since all the buzz over their 2011 concept album David Comes to Life. Today, they broke that silence with a clip for Inside A Frame, a track off that album. Their previous videos for songs off that album have been pretty amazeballs, so I only expected more brilliance in the new one. It’s filled with awesome dance choreography and hardworking dancers in cool punk outfits. I’m not complaining!

Wavves’ Hybrid Moments

January 12, 2012

What’d I say about covers this morning? Surf punk noise rocker Wavves covered Misfits’ Hybrid Moments. It’s nice to listen to Wavves again, as it’s been a short while. The lo-fi beach rock sound Nathan Williams brings to the song is a long ways from Misfits original punk-ish classic sound.
