It’s not often that a primo Weezer remix crops up, much less a disco inspired one, but that’s exactly what Brooklyn nu-disco producer LEFTI has crafted for the legendary punk and power pop band. LEFTI gives Weezer’s Pacific Daydream track Happy Hour a plump grooving dance makeover on his official remix, and it’s as happy a three minutes as can be. This Happy Hour is like a blend of RAC and Breakbot, with a whole lot of frisky buoyancy. You can snag LEFTI’s remix from iTunes, here.

We don’t have much too long to wait before Weezer releases yet another highly anticipated full length. Pacific Daydream arrives on October 27th via Crush Music / Atlantic Records. The legendary band has revealed a new infectious song off the album, and it’s quite the effulgent and effervescent charmer. Happy Hour boasts a synthy glimmering veneer and a contagious cadence. It feels like Weezer is channeling a combination of Mutemath and Bear Hands. Weezer will be gracing the bay with an appearance at Live 105′s Not So Silent Night. I normally can’t make it to happy hour even if I wanted to, just because I’m always here with you, sharing fine tunes like this new SAKIMA jam. But I do associate happy hours with fun, libations, and debauchery. British wunderkid SAKIMA, the up and coming post-EDM singer songwriter and producer signed to Moving Castle, gives us a different perspective regarding the after work soiree. As he explains: “The song sounds like it’s about drinking, sex, and drugs, but it’s actually about being over-obsessed with a guy I dated. I was doing a lot of partying and dumb stuff around that time. For some reason this guy made me act differently. I acted completely normal when actually, in my head, I was like ‘marry me or die’… hence the melodramatic lyrics…”. SAKIMA’s Happy Hr is wrought with raw restless emotion. A frisky seductive groove endows SAKIMA’s ever unique and compelling fusion of R&B pop, electronica, and hip hop. It’s no wonder many are calling SAKIMA one to watch. Happy Hr can also be streamed off Spotify, here.
