Today’s a very special day. Not only is it one of my favorite ghoulish holidays, Halloween, but a surprise new Gorillaz track has surfaced, too! Garage Palace features hip hop sensation Little Simz on guest vocals, and it comes with an awesome animated music video in which she fights zombies alongside the band. The track comes off of the deluxe vinyl release of Humanz, due out as a “Super Deluxe Vinyl Boxset” on November 3rd. Pre-order, here. Garage Palace is available, here.

Though Cherry Glazerr’s Nurse Ratched has been around as a B-side since 2014, the Los Angeles based indie rock trio has plans to include the tune on their new album, Apocalipstick, a record long time fans are looking forward to with much excitement since it’s been years since their last full length. A macabre new video arrived today for Nurse Ratched, and it happens to be perfect for Halloween. Nurse Ratched itself is also a deliciously dark and blusterous garage punk piece well worth falling in love with all over again as we await Apocalipstick, due out January 20th on Secretly Canadian. Pre-order, here.

It’s one of my favorite weekends of the year, when goblins and ghouls, witches and werewolves come out in droves to play. Who else but enigmatic electronic genius k?d would put us in exactly the right mood to celebrate with a creepy dark new original? Mortem is a jolting explosion of eerie electro. It punches hard and buzzes strong, leaving a trail of quivering exhilaration with every one if its crepuscular beats. If Justice were to throw a haunted house party for Halloween, I’d expect to hear something as gloriously spooky as Mortem. Snag the haunting thriller for free from Toneden.

Is it Christmas or is it Halloween soon? I’m almost confused, because it’s really quite a heavenly treat to be presented with brand new The Shins this morning. I’ll just pretend we have a “Nightmare Before Christmas” scenario, which happens to be one I find much wickedly delightful. After all, the video via which Dead Alive arrives is geared towards the creepily trippy, and the song itself and James Mercer’s smooth lilting voice have always felt like the perfect cozy accompaniment to the Holidays. Not only has The Shins given us a gift of a psychedelia saturated indie rock trotter, they’ve also announced that their next album will arrive in 2017. They call Dead Alive their “Halloween gift while you wait for the album”.

Supergroup Summer Moon, which features Nikolai Fraiture (The Strokes), Stephen Perkins (Jane’s Addiction), Camila Grey (Uh Huh Her), and Noah Harmon (Airborne Toxic Event) appeared out of nowhere over a year ago to woo me with a muggy dance rock jangler named With You Tonight. The track, which they marked as a demo at the time, has now received one of those newfangled interactive 360 degree music video treatments, giving us the opportunity get up and strut around once again to the sweltry gem. I’d imagine if Porches, Broken Bells, and Spanish Gold jammed out together, it would sound something similar to this delightful charmer. The video accompaniment tells a tale about two people coming home from a dance ball and stumbling into a strange, occult world. I guess it arrives just in time for Halloween, then! Summer Moon is planning to release a debut album in 2017. With You Tonight is out on all major retailers.

Sexy funk pop tune from Lazyboy Empire titled ‘Vampire’. The saxophone throughout the track makes the lyrics ‘I want to suck your blood’ sound almost enticing. ‘Vampire’ is a great Halloween dance track that will be a delicious treat for anyone who listens. I’m completely digging the tropical vibe.

Just released today and I can’t help but feel the Halloween vibe from Jay and Bambi’s second single ‘This Love Is Upon Us’ video. ‘This Love is Upon Us’ has
haunting tones which are on display. I love the sultriness of the song and how the other-worldiness of it is
brought to life in the music video. At first I thought the video was going to focus on puppets but soon enough the world of puppets and humans cross. This morphs into a social gathering of outcasts who are out to have fun.

I had a feeling I was going to dig this song just from the title, Halloween. Sure enough, Sóley’s atmospheric song and dark video gripped my attention and enraptured me fully. The classically trained Icelandic singer and musician crafts an ethereal experience with the haunting song, which is off her forthcoming album, Ask The Deep, just released on Morr Music. Despite its shadowy soundscape, Halloween is a crystalline beauty, delicately breathtaking and moving in a Lykke Li like folk pop way.
