We have one more to leave you with on this epic music journey we’ve had today, and it’s a remix that we most certainly did not expect to encounter, but am very much glad we did. It’s been awhile since we’ve heard from BloodPop®, the producer and musician formerly known as Blood Diamonds, later known as DiamondDahi. There may have been a few other moniker changes in between that we’ve missed. The Los Angeles based artist has worked with Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, and Madonna in the past, but some of our favorite music from him was when he collaborated with Grimes (while he was Blood Diamond). He makes a return to IHM with a lustrous pulsing remix of the HAIM sisters’ snappy hooking single, Little Of Your Love. There’s a Jack Ü meets Cashmere Cat feel to the track with its pitched vocal chops, vivacious beats, and jagged synths. The remix is a welcome new approach on a signature HAIM tune. You can grab it, here.

The world has been waiting a very long time for the Haim sisters’ sophomore album, or so it feels. It has, after all, been four years since that fantastic debut album named Days Are Gone, and the Los Angeles pop rock sisters have been teasing us regarding new music for quite some time now. Last week, we finally received some sweet reprieve from our hungering for new HAIM when they released a Paul Thomas Anderson directed studio video for a song named Right Now. Fast forward a week and what do we get? The official lead single from their new album Something To Tell You! Want You Back is finger snapping good. The guitar chirpy, keys effulgent anthem reminds us how bad we really did “want you back” when it comes to HAIM. New album Something To Tell You will arrive on July 7th. Want You Back is available via all streaming/purchase outlets and services, here.

M83 – Holes In The Sky feat. HAIM

March 3, 2015

We all know how epic soundtracks for big Hollywood flicks are nowadays. The next massive soundtrack to look forward to, whether you’re a fan of the blockbuster or not, is the soundtrack for the next edition of The Divergent Series, Insurgent. Today, we get to hear a new M83 song off of it, and it features the much popular HAIM sisters. It’s two acts I’m superbly fond of in one track, plus it’s HAIM in a way we’ve never heard them before, so I’m quite satisfied. Anthony Gonzalez has always been the brilliant genius when it comes to crafting music perfect for affecting movie moments. Tender Holes In The Sky, though not as sweeping as some of M83’s other music, is still a magnificent, luscious piece, and HAIM goes for a more simmering, less grooving sound with their guest vocals on the track. Is it beautiful? Yes, yes indeed. Other acts featured on the Insurgent soundtrack include Royal Blood, Woodkid (featuring Lykke Li), Anna Calvi, Zella Day, SOHN, Imagine Dragons, and Joseph Trapanese. Yea, buddy. Watch this space, I have a feeling I’ll be sharing many of those with you, considering my undying love for most of these acts. The soundtrack gets a release on March 17th.

The HAIM sisters dropped a video for the A$AP Ferg featuring version of My Song 5, and it’s one you won’t want to miss. The tongue in cheek clip is an homage to daytime television shows (guilty of watching my share of that back like a decade ago), plus it features a long list of awesome cameos, including but not limited to stints by Ezra Koenig, Big Sean, and Grimes, an addition that garners HAIM major bonus points, since Claire Boucher rules. I have to admit, when I first heard this song earlier this year, I deeply preferred the original, off HAIM’s fun and spectacular debut album Days Are Gone, but this hip hop infused version with A$AP Ferg has certainly grown on me plenty.

OFFICIAL VID: HAIM – If I Could Change Your Mind

February 25, 2014

If you’ve been following me for awhile, you should know that I’ve been a HUGE HAIM fan for quite some time now, so it’s cause for celebration that they released an awesome video for their song If I Could Change Your Mind, the latest single off terrific debut album Days Are Gone. The Haim sisters are so incredibly talented with their Fleetwood Mac inspired style and always captivating to watch, both via footage and live. I’ve seen them at Treasure Island Music Festival (boy, did they KILL their set), and I greatly look forward to catching them headline at the Fillmore come April. Actually, I’m looking to trade some sold out April 10 tickets for the sold out April 9 show, if anyone’s game. I must catch Bear Hands and Fenech-Soler at Popscene on April 10, too! Anyway, catch the fresh video below. Is there a single HAIM song that isn’t incredbly catchy and fun?
