Haerts recently returned with new material after a long disappearance that lasted more than a year. We were hoping this meant we’d be hearing a lot more from the Brooklyn outfit going forth. Sure enough, they’ve followed up on earlier single Your Love with a drafty soaring indie pop dazzler named No Love For The Wild. The sprawling single is achingly beautiful yet gloriously fulfilling. It’s a movie theme sized anthem that takes us to wide open expanses and leaves us feeling wild & restlessness. Haerts sets our hearts free with their heartwrenching song. Haerts will be heading out on tour this summer. Their travels include a stop at Popscene in San Francisco.

After giving us some surprisingly experimental and much spellbinding treats a year ago, Haerts disappeared back into the shadows. They’ve been silent yet again, until now. The Brooklyn synthpop project returns to form on Your Love, a muggy longing, lovesick purring ballad swimming in the dreamy cinematic romance of the 80′s. Haerts’ lead singer Nini Fabi sings “I don’t want your love, if you can breathe without it.” Your Love makes me feel like I’ve barely survived this past year without Haerts, or like a gaping hole has now been filled with their quixotic song.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been wondering what Haerts has been up to for some time now. The Brooklyn synthpop outfit made quite the splash a couple years ago, then promptly disappeared into the shadows. Haerts finally make their reappearance this year, and in a very artful and innovative fashion at that. The band unveils a package of three unreleased tracks and present a bizarre yet riveting film entitled Power/Land, a collaboration with visual artist Julian Klincewicz, which you can stream below (warning: NSFW). Off the Power/Land package comes haunting opener Eva, a slow whorling alt pop song with plenty of Haert’s usual earthy warmth. Compared to earlier Haert songs, Eva is far more experimental and unpredictable. It breaks out into an eerie yet propulsive Future Islands-esque synthwave beat as its vocals lurk wispily between its pillars in a ghostly dance of dissonance. The end result delivers transfixing, contemplative depth. Stream Haerts’ three track Power/Land release in full on Soundcloud and purchase on iTunes.

Haerts, the Brooklyn synthpop outfit that first lured us in with amazing early tracks All The Days and Wings, has been relatively quiet for the past while. Today, they resurface with new single Giving Up, a new taste off an upcoming debut album that they’ve been working on. It’s a bright and sweeping song that soars magnificently. Earlier this year, they unveiled the more pensive and melancholic Call My Name, off the forthcoming debut, which you can stream below. Of course, Wings and All The Days are still my absolute favorites, and you can stream them from Haerts’ Hemiplegia EP, here. Oh boy, now I’m getting excited about their debut album, which will be out October 28 via Columbia. Time to pre-order!

Brooklyn indie pop act HAERTS’ Hemiplegia received a remix treatment from London duo Avec Sans, and it’s great synth rendition filled with energetic bounce and ephemeral, choppy vocals. Upon listening to this outstanding remix, I had to delve deeper into who this London duo is, and I was pleasantly surprised to find they recently covered TV On The Radio’s Will Do! I’m a big fan of TV On The Radio, and nothing compares to the original, off stellar 2011 album Nine Types Of Light (and also features Priscilla Ahn on backing vocals), but this electropop take on the tune is a wonderful new approach on the song. For one more Avec Sans taste, check out last year’s The Answer, which carries ample dark undertones in its somewhat CHVRHCES like production, along with explosive vocals.

OFFICIAL VID: French Horn Rebellion feat. HAERTS – Swing Into It

April 24, 2014

Milwaukee sibling duo French Horn Rebellion teamed up with Brooklyn indie pop quartet HAERTS on their latest track, the groovy Swing Into Me. The catchy, electrifying jam also received the music video treatment today. Of course, the tune is full of electro house funkiness and the expected French horns. FHR themselves are calling this distinct new sound “New Jack Swing”, and what a fresh genre to boogie down to. There’s no lack of retro throwback epicness. There’s a Paula Abdul like thing going on here, and I owned Paula Abdul cassette tapes back in the day. Just saying…
